Risk of famine. Aid being blocked. Humanitarian workers under attack. Do we have your attention? Hear from @JennyChapman and @MoazzamTMalik talk about their journey in Sudan as they reflect on the deepening crisis, the inspirational children they met, and the path towards peace. After 3 years of war, what is happening in Sudan is the greatest humanitarian crisis of the 21st century.   The UK is announcing over £140 million this year for humanitarian support and victims of sexual violence ⬇️

Direct negotiations can pave the way to bring lasting security for Lebanon and Israel. With international partners, the UK calls for the inclusion of Lebanon in regional de-escalation efforts. All parties must work together for a lasting solution. gov.uk/government/new…

Great to catch up with my friend @JDVance today in DC following his talks in Pakistan. It is vital that the ceasefire continues and we get shipping flowing freely again through the Straits of Hormuz. We continue to work together towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

The UK is clear that Lebanon must be included in the ceasefire. I have seen the vital work of @redcrosslebanon in Tebnine; the killing of an aid worker is tragic. Ongoing strikes risk a humanitarian crisis. Hizballah must disarm and Israeli strikes stop now.

On Yom HaShoah, we remember the six million Jews who were killed, and we acknowledge the deep grief and anguish that remembrance brings for Jewish communities today. I know this comes at a time of profound anxiety. Conflicts overseas, pressures at home, and uncertainty about the future weigh heavily – compounded by a troubling rise in antisemitic attacks and terrorist plots targeting Jewish communities across the country. My government will always act decisively to protect Jewish communities and to stamp out antisemitism wherever it appears. We will not hesitate, and we will not look away. Remembrance must come with responsibility – to honour the past, to protect the present, and to ensure that ‘never again’ is not just a promise, but a duty we uphold.

The ongoing closure of the Strait of Hormuz is deeply damaging. Getting global shipping moving is vital to ease cost of living pressures. The UK has convened more than 40 nations who share our aim to restore freedom of navigation. This week the UK and France will co-host a summit to advance work on a coordinated, independent, multinational plan to safeguard international shipping when the conflict ends.

In my Mansion House speech, I made clear: the Strait of Hormuz must be fully reopened, without restrictions or tolls. The blocking of this vital waterway is hitting trade around the world and prices here at home. Freedom of navigation means navigation must be free.

Along with 68 partners, we condemn attacks against UNIFIL - peacekeepers must never be targeted. The escalating violence in Lebanon has seen rising civilian casualties and over one million displaced. We urge an immediate return to the 2024 cessation of hostilities.

The @IMOHQ has joined the UK’s calls to ensure freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and made clear the risk to the 20,000 seafarers trapped in the waterway. Foreign Secretary @YvetteCooperMP met with @IMOSecGen to build on the UK-led meeting last week of over 40 countries to maintain pressure on Iran to reopen the Strait.
