As the school year winds to a close (even if in a far-from-traditional way), I’ve been thinking about all who are retiring in this time. Let’s make sure they are honored, thanked, and celebrated, even at a distance. They have lost the closure to long careers.

I have proclaimed a statewide moment of prayer and reflection at noon on Sunday, April 5, so that Marylanders can join together in honor of those we have lost, those who are sick, and the doctors, nurses, clinicians, health care workers, and first responders on the front lines.

Thank you FCPS staff for putting kids first and knowing how special each and every child is. All kids are OUR kids. We’ve got this!!
