It’s been my privilege to serve alongside the dedicated staff of the @US_FDA as Acting Commissioner. It is with great enthusiasm that I hand the reins over to Dr. Stephen Hahn as the 24th FDA Commissioner.

We issued a draft guidance addressing implementation of these amendments, which we anticipate will facilitate early pediatric assessment of certain targeted cancer drugs and accelerate the development of new, safe and effective therapies for pediatric patients

Thanks to amendments to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act made by the FDA Reauthorization Act of 2017, we have a new mechanism to require the evaluation of certain novel cancer medicines for potential pediatric treatment

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen M. Hahn has been confirmed as 24th Commissioner of Food & Drugs. As an experienced physician, published researcher & health care leader, I know he will successfully lead FDA in its critical task of protecting & promoting public health.

All FDA-approved biosimilar & interchangeable insulin products will meet robust scientific standards. Patients & healthcare providers will be able to rely on their safety & effectiveness, just like their reference products.

Today’s draft guidance is intended to help facilitate product development of biosimilar and interchangeable insulin products by clarifying what data and information may be necessary.

The high cost of insulin raises serious concerns about the ability of many patients with diabetes to access insulin products. Today’s draft guidance reinforces our commitment to facilitating development of and improving patient access to insulin products. go.usa.gov/xpRrg

One of the critical ways @US_FDA can work to curb the disturbing e-cigarette trend is by continuing to educate youth, parents & teachers about the dangers of e-cig use. Educating students has been & will continue to be an important component of FDA's Youth Tobacco Prevention Plan
