@willhj79 @storyandplot It's your *core* audience, not the full range of viewers - the slice that will "get it" most strongly, and can evangelize it for you. A lot of people feel like identifying their audience limits or ignores their fan base, but in reality it's how you find and grow them

99% of loglines I read don't make it clear: - What's new or unique about this movie. - What's the engine for fun, thrills, drama or laughs. - Who the movie is for. Worry less about the format. Who, what, where, and why is the easy part. Worry more about getting THE CONCEPT right. That's what gets people excited. A project's logline can be shared 100x over the phone and in emails. It will get mangled each time. If it keeps going, it is because what survives each time is the concept. That clear, concise idea that generates great scenes. No amount of tinkering will save a logline if the clear concept isn't there.

@storyandplot Yes. I get tired of loglines that dwell on themes rather than concept - "When a boy discovers a secret chest, he must confront hidden trauma, believe in himself, and learn the true meaning of friendship" Ok but WHAT IS THE STORY

The Twilight Zone was packed with social commentary, and it was fantastic Star Trek was often heavy handed with social commentary but it never sucked until it got partisan Even kids animated shows had episodes about bullying or understanding people who are different

Social commentary has become so maligned because everyone does it so badly. Everything is politics so commentary is always politically charged But I would LOVE beyond measure to bring back social commentary about, say, choosing forgiveness or finding God or dealing with hardship

@storyandplot I agree. It's always better to have your audience think "it was a bit weird when he looked into the lens and said revenge only hurts myself" rather than have them think "I have no idea what the point of that was" Out goal should be to help the audience, not hide things from them

I’m so over the “I’m such a quirky girl, I can’t cook” trope. Like it should be genuinely concerning if a functional adult cannot make themself a basic meal. “Lol I can’t boil an egg” actually scares me.

@BYUMemesRevived I've heard speculation it's to make it easier to broadcast in different languages. You don't translate the names but you would need different graphics for titles in each language. So it saves a couple of steps to leave it off
