The Golem Mid-term Plan is ready and available
📌 This document summarizes the changes within the project, including past preparations and resulting milestones.
Specifically, over the last several months, we’ve been busy planning, recruiting, and reorganizing.
🔥 However, the most important goal of this plan is to sketch our vision for the future. Key areas outlined in this plan are:
🟠 GOLEM NETWORK - Development and documentation needed for smooth integration with the new Marketplace. We’ll have to stay a bit quiet until March 14 for the official publication of the Litepaper.
🟠 GOLEM MARKETPLACE - This area includes the development of Golem's new Marketplace and associated tools (e.g., Marketplace Browser), which we plan to release at the turn of Q2/Q3.
🟠 ECOSYSTEM - Update on the Golem Ecosystem Fund and plans to expand ecosystem development.

In Web3, everyone says “community is everything.
But is building a community always the right choice?
Or do we sometimes overestimate its impact while underestimating its risks?
Let’s break this down!
Why Web3 Thrives on Community?
Web3 projects rely on decentralized participation, whether it’s governance (DAOs), liquidity (DeFi), or adoption (NFTs & Layer 2s).
✅ Open-Source & Co-Creation: A lot of the most successful Web3 projects—Ethereum, Golem, Uniswap - are open-source and community-driven. Contributors build, improve, and evangelize, leading to exponential network effects.
✅ Network Effects & Liquidity: Crypto platforms scale when users attract more users. DeFi thrives when liquidity pools grow, and NFT projects gain value as community engagement increases.
✅ Decentralized Trust & Advocacy: Web3 removes middlemen, so reputation and trust are built within the community itself - word of mouth, Twitter threads, Telegram discussions. A strong community = stronger credibility.
⚠️ But Here’s Where It Gets Risky
Yet, not every Web3 company should blindly chase community growth.
❌ Misalignment Between Builders & Holders:
- Open-source devs care about long-term utility.
- Many token holders care about short-term price movements.
The result?
Conflicting incentives – leading to FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt), governance battles, or even hostile forks.
❌ Hype-Driven Communities Can Collapse Overnight:
- We’ve seen it with Luna, OlympusDAO, and countless NFT projects.
- If a project over-indexes on hype rather than product, the community evaporates as soon as the narrative shifts.
❌ Toxicity & Resistance to Change:
- The same passionate community that drives engagement can turn against the project if changes aren’t in their favor.
- Governance in DAOs can be slow, inefficient, and even harmful if dominated by uninformed voices. (Research on DAO Governance Flaws)
🔄 The Balanced Approach:
Community as a Strategic Asset, Not a Crutch
💡 Web3 founders should see community as a multiplier!
- Build first, engage strategically: A strong product will attract the right community, not just noise.
- Align incentives early: Not all community members should have equal influence – consider governance models that prevent dominance by speculators.
- Design governance for expertise, not just engagement: A tiered governance approach (e.g., reputation-based voting, delegated governance) can prevent chaos while still enabling open participation.
📌 TL;DR: Community is a powerful tool in Web3, but only when wielded correctly. Over-reliance on hype and engagement without alignment leads to failure. The best projects focus on long-term builders, not short-term speculators.

Something we wanted to share with y'all. We stay positive on the timeline, not because life is always good for us and everything rosy. We have our fair share of challenges to overcome like everyone else.
But when you're focused on a goal like funding public goods and generally improving the well-being of the ecosystem you're a part of, and surrounded by a team and community like we are, it makes it a little easier to remain consistent in what you're doing, irrespective of outside forces.
So sometimes there can be a lot of crazy out there, but we've got each other and we remember our purpose and it helps us dial down that crazy a little. So if you're here with us, we remain this way for you and because of you. And in turn, if you ever need to dial down the crazy a little, you know where to find us. Thanks for being here with us. ❤️
