Unpaid internships are unfair, undermine UN's declarations on diversity & increase intern vulnerability. We call EVERYONE (not just interns) to join the annual #GlobalInternStrike on February 20th in Geneva physically and globally here on UN's Social Justice day #UNpaidisUNfair

For ex between 2020 and 2021, East Asia & Pacific, & Sub-saharan Africa had the biggest drop in interns. Perhaps this was due to time difference while the UN favoured remote internships, but also proves African countries had fewer interns during remote work 2/3

The gratis personnel report of the Secretariat provides a retrospective look into the number of interns in the Secretariat for a given period. The latest 2021 report proves, once again, how unpaid internships undermine UN's declarations and supposed commitment to diversity 1/3
