Hilton Foundation’s Barri Shorey explain how we’re addressing barriers to education and economic opportunity in Uganda. @FINCA_Uganda and a consortium of partners are working to strengthen accessible early childhood development (ECD) services in Uganda’s refugee-hosting communities. The project uses a two-generation approach of supporting both children and the adults who care for them within the same program. Early results of the pilot program show that deep community engagement, local partnerships, and blended support teams are essential in fostering #ECD growth. Last week at the Marmalade Festival, FINCA’s Poverty Eradication Lab hosted an interactive workshop on the Lab’s unique approach to develop and test innovations that help people build their own pathways out of poverty. Session attendees explored how to collectively design impactful solutions using an HCD approach. 💡 Key themes that came out of the workshop included: • Why isolated interventions often fail to deliver lasting impact. Solving just one part of the value chain isn’t enough, and too many well-meaning interventions fail because they lack systemic connections. •How an integrated ecosystem approach unlocks true scalability. Simply, you cannot scale what the system won’t support. •Real-world insights on effective ecosystem partnerships.
