As someone who has built and scaled teams, I always advise founders, especially first-time founders to make their first hires themselves. Don’t over-index on hard skills at that stage. Your biggest focus should be people you can work closely with, people who understand the vision and are willing to build with you (not just work). Early teams run more on alignment and trust than on perfect résumés. Skills can be developed but misalignment is much harder to fix. Pay attention to the working dynamics from the start.
