Last month, at the Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research (IAAVR) conference, we presented a compelling roadmap on why diagnostics must move from being a clinical tool to becoming the backbone of integrated health security. The core message was clear: outbreaks do not begin in hospitals, they begin at the human–animal–environment interface. Detection, therefore, must begin there too. The presentation highlighted: The diagnostic gap: While human health diagnostics are relatively advanced, they remain clinically focused and reactive. Animal health diagnostics are fragmented and often trade-driven rather than surveillance-oriented. Environmental diagnostics remain the weakest link. The absence of integrated systems delays detection and allows local events to escalate into crises. The economic case for diagnostics: Investing ₹500–800 crore in an integrated diagnostic surveillance system (IDSS) could yield a return exceeding 100:1 by preventing even one major pandemic. Beyond economics, early detection protects livelihoods, preserves trade security, and saves lives. IDSS: A three-tier architecture was proposed: - Field-level point-of-care tools and sample stabilization kits - Strengthened district and regional “one health diagnostic hubs” - A unified AI-enabled national data platform for real-time outbreak intelligence Veterinarians as the vanguard: Veterinarians operate at the critical interface where zoonotic threats emerge. The paradigm must shift from individual animal treatment to population-level surveillance, equipping field veterinarians with connected diagnostic tools and integrating animal reporting into shared national systems. Diagnostics are the first step in controlling any outbreak. Finding disease early in animals protects people and prevents small events from becoming large crises. We are also proud that our very own Dr Sarabjit Chadha @SarabChadha (Country Director, India and Regional Director, Asia) was conferred the Honorary Fellowship at the conference.

Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL women and girls. International Women’s Day 2026 reminds us that achieving gender equality begins with achieving health equity. Yet millions of women and girls still lack access to essential diagnostics, facing social, economic, and gender-based barriers that delay detection, treatment, and care. FIND women’s health programme seeks to close the diagnostic gender gap by expanding access to timely, quality, and affordable testing for women at every stage of life. We believe that no woman should be left behind simply because she cannot access a test. This 8 March, we reaffirm our commitment to accelerating health equity by turning rights into reality through better diagnostics. Today, on International HPV Awareness Day, we highlight the importance of disease prevention. Cervical cancer can be effectively prevented through early detection, yet in Viet Nam more than 2,500 women die from the disease every year. “Of course, I am ready to participate in screening to protect my health,” shared Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Anh from Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong. Through collaboration with the Hai Phong Department of Health, FIND is helping expand access to HPV DNA testing, empowering women to protect their health and their future. We are excited to share the release of the second version of the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) performance fact sheet, a practical guide designed for people living with diabetes and the healthcare providers who support them. This fact sheet was co-developed with Institut für Diabetes-Technologie (IfDT) and SA Diabetes Advocacy (SADA), with support from @HelmsleyTrust. The updated fact sheet empowers users to make informed decisions about CGM by unpacking the data behind performance studies — including how to assess study design, interpret metrics like accuracy beyond mean absolute relative difference (MARD), and understand real-world performance nuances. Whether you’re living with diabetes, supporting someone who is, or working in diabetes care, this resource helps clarify what to look for when comparing CGM products and interpreting performance data. Download and explore the fact sheet here: finddx.org/wp-content/upl… Dr. Priyanka Singh @haldane_cathy Stefan Pleus Guido Freckmann Kirsten de Klerk

What happens when women lead the conversation about their health? A 12‑month listening exercise across 44 Kenyan counties 🇰🇪 brought together 24,033 women and girls to share their lived experiences with diagnostics and care. Their message was clear: diagnostics save lives, but only when they are accessible, affordable, respectful, and well‑communicated. Women described delayed diagnoses, high indirect costs, unclear test results, and fragmented referrals. They also highlighted the deep links between diagnostics, income security, mental health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions. These findings provide a roadmap for integrating diagnostics into gender‑responsive primary healthcare and for advancing health equity grounded in women’s voices. At FIND, we continuously seek new opportunities to broaden our scope and enhance our impact in global health. We recently had the privilege of meeting with Mr Yong Feng from China’s National Health Commission and Ms Wei Yang from the Permanent Mission in Geneva. These discussions focused on exploring potential collaborations and identifying ways to further extend our reach and amplify our impact in China. In addition, we welcomed students from various Chinese universities to our offices in Geneva. This visit provided them with a firsthand look at how international partnerships are advancing diagnostic equity. Their thoughtful reflections served as a strong reminder of how the value of each exchange can inspire the next generation of leaders in global health.

Last week in Paris, our CEO Dr @IfedayoTiffy joined global health leaders at the launch of the 5th @IPPSecretariat Annual Report to discuss progress on the 100 Days Mission. On the sidelines of the launch, he highlighted critical gaps in global preparedness: diagnostics remain the least funded pillar of outbreak response — despite being the foundation of effective action. Achieving the 100 Days Mission for diagnostics is possible, but only if we invest now in innovative R&D, flexible platform technologies, local manufacturing, and stronger health systems — so every test developed can be delivered and used where it matters most. Disease prevention is the shortest way to peace. “Periodic health check-up and HPV DNA test is the most meaningful gift for yourself", says Ms. Tran Thi Hoa’s (Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong), whose health confidence helps her become a solid support for her children and grandchildren. Cervical cancer is a disease that can be effectively prevented through early detection. Ms. Tran Thi Hoa is one of 5,000 women in Hai Phong who benefited from HPV DNA testing. Her story is featured in recent articles published by Tuổi Trẻ Thủ Đô and Dân Trí that highlight the critical role of this testing in early detection and protecting women’s health. In Vietnam, awareness and early implementation of HPV DNA testing were strengthened through FIND’s earlier collaboration with Hai Phong Department of Health on enhancing capacity in managing common conditions at primary healthcare level. Building on this foundation, FIND is now working to advance sustainable financing approaches, including the development of co-payment models for HPV DNA testing. This progression reflects FIND’s long-term commitment to translating system readiness into expanded and equitable access to effective diagnostics. Learn more about us: finddx.org #WorldCancerDay

A child presents with a high fever. Is it malaria? Or could it be human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), also known as sleeping sickness? Or visceral leishmaniasis (VL), caused by a parasite transmitted through sandfly bites? These diseases can look the same at first, but they require very different treatments. What happens when the diagnosis is wrong? #WorldNTDDay #UniteActEliminate #BeatNTDs Our work on NTDs: finddx.org/what-we-do/pro…

Many neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) share symptoms with common illnesses. Human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) and visceral leishmaniasis (VL), for example, can both present with a high fever, much like malaria. When malaria is not diagnosed, or is diagnosed when it is not present, the result can be - Delayed or missed treatment for the real disease - Unnecessary use of antimalarials - Growing pressure on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) This is why accurate, context-appropriate diagnostics matter. Not just for individuals, but for health systems as a whole. Today, we are sharing a new factsheet on diagnostics for NTDs, looking at where gaps in diagnosis continue and how FIND is working to ensure the right tests reach the right people at the right time: finddx.org/wp-content/upl… Our newest op-ed on schistosomiasis has also been published today.
