Mason Miller will sniff 150 Ks from the bullpen & will firmly be in the NL CY Young race. No reliever has done this in modern baseball. The record is ~123 (K-Rod, 2004), and the last closer to win the CY Young was Eric Gagne (2003). Miller throws 125 mph & pairs it with a wipeout slider. Since the beginning of September, the last 50 batters he faced went a cool 0-50 with 39 strikeouts against him. He enters the season fully healthy & has the closer role to himself on a Padres team that should be headed to the playoffs. this is Skenes award to lose, no question. and assuming Skenes does his usually "Skenes stuff", i think it would take a truly historic season from someone else to snatch the CY Young away from him. it sounds crazy, but i truly think Mason Miller has the best opportunity to make that case this season.
