Canada needs policy decisions that are informed, proportionate and evidence‑based. Salmon farming contributes to domestic food production, coastal economies and year‑round supply. It also operates within a regulated framework that should be assessed on facts, not broad claims. Healthy debate is welcome. Mischaracterization is not a substitute for analysis. #Aquaculture #FoodSecurity #OceanEconomy #Seafood #PublicPolicy cbc.ca/news/canada/no…

There’s a constructive path forward. Protecting wild salmon and strengthening coastal economies can go hand in hand through modern seafood production, food security, and sustainable innovation. Canada has an opportunity to lead the transition.

Salmon farming in rural and remote coastal communities is not an abstract policy debate. It is paycheques, small businesses, and young people deciding whether they can stay in their home communities. Sign the petition and tell Ottawa to protect it. #action" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">keepfoodaffordable.ca/#action

@ProtectOurShore @UBCIC We understand that you are based in the USA, so you have no personal experience or knowledge of them, but what you are critiquing is a model that already exists and has been implemented by our Nations (successfully, we might add) in other industries such as tourism and forestry.

If tobacco companies proposed a levy on every cigarette sold, used to fund a new science center with a scientific model framed on centuries old superstitions, and then said if not allowed this phantom source of revenue will be killed, what would people say? #bcpoli #ottawa @UBCIC

Protecting wild salmon and strengthening food security can go hand in hand. Canada has an opportunity to lead the transition toward modern seafood production systems that support both environmental protection and long-term economic growth.

Why don't you ever seem interested in also noting that our hereditary chiefs have been trying to preserve and protect the only economic lifeline our communities have? We implore higher environmental standards and monitoring than is even required by federal government. We have demonstrated for decades that farmed and wild salmon can co-exist negative impact. x.com/FNFFSBC/status…

@FNFFSBC This just shows how much the west coast wild salmon ecosystem means to some First Nations. The truth always comes out. They dont give a crap about the environment and the wild salmon that form the foundation of the ecosystem. Its all about a cash grab $$. Absolutely disgusting

Global demand for salmon continues to rise. The U.S. confirms salmon remains a top seafood choice. Europe is looking to grow more of its own fish supply. As Canada reviews the future of salmon farming in BC, the question isn’t whether demand exists. It’s whether Canada wants to help meet it. euractiv.com/news/eu-wants-… #Aquaculture #FoodSecurity #BlueEconomy

Seeing @DonDavies, who has not toured a salmon farm or met with the @FNFFSBC, make grossly inaccurate comments about #salmonfarming, perpetuated by activists, is deeply disappointing from an elected official and indicative of urban MPs ignoring rural communities. Come visit!

Both sides of B.C.'s salmon aquaculture dispute are demanding answers from Ottawa about Carney's commitment to his predecessor's 2029 open-net pen farming ban. #cdnpoli hilltimes.com/2026/05/06/fed…
