We are aware of the police involved shooting in the NWD. President Mancuso and State Trustee Cohen are at homicide with our involved members while Guard Glazerman is at Shock Trauma. All involved members are in good spirits.

We are aware of the police involved shooting in the Eastern District. President Mancuso and 1st VP MacDonald are on their way to assist with the officers involved.

We are aware of the police involved shooting in the Southeast District. President Mancuso, 1st vice president MacDonald and State Trustee Cohen are on their way in to assist our officers.

We are aware of the Police Involved Shooting in the WD. President Mancuso, Guard Glazerman, and SBWD are responding in to assist our officers.

7.18.2025 The Maryland Attorney General, Anthony Brown (AG), must reconsider his approach to handling sensitive investigations. Transparency is critical, but it must be balanced with the principles of due process, officer safety, and public trust. The recent release of the names of officers involved in the Dontae Melton Jr. case sets a dangerous precedent with far-reaching consequences. This was not a dynamic incident like a police officer involved shooting or similar incident. This incident is all on body worn camera! This is clearly a mental health incident where the police officers pleaded for help from other city agencies, and that help never came. If AG Brown felt the need to release names in an obvious mental health case, why not release the names of all involved in the breakdown of services from the beginning all the way to the hospital staff. Weren’t they all involved in this incident? Singling out only the officers suggests that this is unbalanced and is politically motivated. The Attorney General should instead focus on ensuring a thorough, impartial investigation that leads to meaningful change. This is not a police officer related event that needed the release of the officers’ names. The AG is obviously looking for headlines! AG Browns’ decision to name the officers appears to be a calculated move to appease those that react before facts. Inflammatory articles like this one (link below) by Banner reporter Darreonna Davis and the AG’s unnecessary actions put the involved officers at risk and hinders public safety. The facts are the officers involved did everything in their power to ensure Mr. Melton received medical treatment and the AG knows this. Baltimore’s crumbling public safety infrastructure has been ignored for far too long. Baltimore City Fire and EMS, and the BPD have suffered from underfunding and understaffing for years, causing critical issues that surfaced in this incident. This is the failure of city leadership going back decades, not a failure of the individual officers named by the AG.
