Congratulations Enfield Council, climate champions. ✅ Removing ancient trees for astroturf pitches ✅ Letting @SpursOfficial destroy 18ha of sensitive meadow and wood ✅ Privatising a public park @Ashden_org - recognise your winners? #GreenwashEnfield

Here's a campaign we're supporting - in fact, we've just donated £1K. The beautiful greenspace Whitewebbs Park in London is under threat from plans by @Spurs_THA. @FOWhitewebbs are fundraising for a Judicial Review. Please support their crowd funder➡️ crowdjustice.com/case/whitewebb…

Did you know there are three kinds of lichen? Here is Jeff Duckett at Whitewebbs holding a log with foliose, fruitcose and crustose lichens present. It was a massive pleasure to walk in Whitewebbs again at the weekend. Thanks Benny @kapetakapeta and team.

@PlasticsRebel @SpursOfficial 1 plastic grass pitch. Despite repeated questions, @SpursOfficial have not confirmed to us whether the other pitches are hybrids. Unfortunately, as you don't require planning permission for astroturf, nothing would stop the club changing natural pitches into plastic later on...

Rosehips exploding red in front of dead wood, winter food for birds and rodents. In the soil turned up by the root plate, bees nested over summer. Every metre of Whitewebbs crackles with untold stories of life. This is what we will lose if @SpursOfficial steal our park.

Dear councils, 97% of meadows are gone. So please make a commitment for next year. If you have wildflowers on verges and in public spaces, don't poison them or over-mow them. Let them grow as a lifeline for insects like bees, butterflies and hoverflies 🐝

What a breath of fresh air it was recently to visit @ClaphamCommon1, & see how they are turning previously mown areas into scrubland & meadow habitats. Makes me even more excited to be working with them to create a rather special new #wildlifepond feature for all to use. This new feature will form part of their ongoing efforts to encourage anyone who visits #ClaphamCommon to reconnect with #nature. Something we should encourage in EVERY Common & green space. Hats off to @lambeth_council for everything they are currently doing to support this, along with many other floral & #wildlife projects on the Common. More to follow soon…

Did you know a mature oak is habitat for 2,300 species? Whitewebbs is full of amazing veteran trees like this. The site's ecology is threatened by @SpursOfficial's insane project of development. The combination of ancient forest and rich grassland is rare and to be protected.
