A more balanced game means you need to learn far more matchups, because your top tier character is no longer strong enough to ignore large parts of the cast. For players who dedicate their lives to competition, the journey becomes much harder. And with an intense tournament schedule, there often isn’t enough time to deeply study every character while still staying consistent against the strongest ones. Now imagine adding a new character every month. Some players literally don’t even go back home between a character release and the moment that character becomes tournament legal. It’s 100% healthier and more exciting for spectators, mid-level players, and casuals. But that enjoyment also comes at the cost of top players struggling more than ever. Which is exactly why high prize pools matter so much today. What a crazy era we’re living in 😁
