Now that pre-season is done and dusted and only a few days to go until the new season starts, I thought it would be useful to summarise what I feel about the teams which are worth targeting for the start of the season. This thread talks about all my thoughts about Man City:

Dermot Gallagher's role on Sky Sports is to justify bad decisions & remove accountability from his colleagues. Clubs need to take a stronger stance against @FA_PGMOL & demand change, a complete revamp of how the Premier League is officiated & governed. The system does not work.

Gabriel plays the game exactly like Romero does. Hes 100% committed and gets into scuffles and shirt pulling and things like this. Romero 100% gets a red here with Neville screaming about how he’s lost his head and not a captain. Treated totally differently

Declan Rice winning the PFA POTY award over Bruno Fernandes would actually dent the image of this league beyond repair.

I don’t know how you retrospectively won’t suspend Gabriel. This is violent conduct. You got to suspend him now.

Gabriel was very smart by headbutting Haaland and not accidentally removing his hair bobble in an aerial duel. By avoiding 'violent conduct' he receives a yellow card rather than a red and three-game suspension. Well done, good process.

John Brooks was on VAR for Man Utd vs Leeds on and City vs Arsenal this week. He decides to intervene and send Martinez off for violent conduct for an accidental hair pull but ignores Gabriel trying to head butt Haaland. How is Licha getting a three match ban while Gabriel gets a yellow for that? Clearly scared because the impact of Gabriel missing three games would be huge for Arsenal.

Bruno Fernandes was incensed in the 89th minute when he believed Romeo Lavia stamped on him. Michael Oliver ignored him & VAR did not intervene. Turns out he had a point. Welcome back to another bonus point roundup after last night’s OPTA update: 👉🏻Pascal Groß will keep all 3 bonus points! His bonus was on a knife edge. He was one bad pass away from a 2bps drop! His pass accuracy in fact ended up comfortably within the threshold, whereas Xavi Simons actually lost a successful dribble (-1bps) to increase the bps deficit. 2 big chances missed (-6bps) and a yellow card (-3bps) hindered the bonus prospects of Xavi. However, just 3 more pass attempts and he would have overtaken Groß. Kaoru Mitoma narrowly missed out on bonus. He would have claimed 1 bonus point (and an extra appearance point) if he simply played on for 5 more minutes. Van Hecke hit 16 DEFCON + managed an assist but was nowhere near the bonus! This is due to the vast amount of negative bps actions he accumulated! He conceded twice (-8bps), made an error leading to a goal (-3bps) and committed two fouls (-2bps) to name a few! 👉🏻Perhaps less relevant this week but a lot happened in the bps for the United game! Luke Shaw gained a valuable pass attempt to take him up to 30 passes at 80%+ accuracy (+4bps). Ayden Heaven lost a successful tackle (-2bps), moved up to 90%+ pass accuracy (+2bps) and gained a valuable CBI point (+1bps) = 1bps gain overall So the new bps is a 3-way tie: 3 bonus: Lammens, Heaven, Shaw (30bps) 👉🏻Dalot moves out of the bonus completely! A rare poor bps showing from Bruno yesterday. But throw a Chelsea goal in there and he probably comes away with at least one! 🚨 A few changes happened in time for FPL to update last night, so let’s quickly run through those! 👉🏻Marcus Tavernier lost one of his two bonus points. This was because Truffert gained a valuable CBI point (+1bps), taking him one bps ahead. 👉🏻Jaka Bijol gained a big chance created (+3bps) in the update, bringing him within touching distance of Struijk for one bonus. However this gain was quickly lost when his pass accuracy dropped under 80% (-2bps) and deducted a valuable CBI point (-1bps). 👉🏻Therefore we had no bonus point changes in the Leeds game. 👉🏻Finally, Castagne lost 1 bonus point after Kayode gained a successful dribble (+1bps) in the update. Very lengthy post today but hopefully this clears up a few questions and offers some further insights into what goes on! 🚨🎙️ Wayne Rooney ; we all saw the red card given to Lisandro Martinez against Leeds United. Today, we witnessed a very similar challenge involving Bassey against Brentford, yet there was no VAR intervention and no call for the referee to review it.🔴 I was honestly waiting for VAR to step in, but nothing happened. At this point, it’s becoming hard not to feel like there is clear inconsistency when it comes to Manchester United. If the same kind of incident led to a red card before, why was this one treated differently? It raises serious questions, especially when United are fighting for a Champions League spot next season. This isn’t the first time, and it definitely doesn’t feel like the second. Decisions like this make it seem unfair, and many fans will understandably feel that the club is constantly being treated differently. The level of hostility towards Manchester United is becoming impossible to ignore.

When its all said and done, Bruno Fernandes will sit on the same table as Xavi Iniesta Zidane Modric Kroos

Are Arsenal fans still pretending that Gabriel or Rice have been as good as Bruno Fernandes this season? To me, there is no competition this year. The gap is too big. Give Bruno the POTS. Do the right thing.

This is the Mazraoui I know. A phenomenal footballer who can play anywhere. Hope he can find more rhythm next season.

Goes without saying, recruitment is more important than any managerial appointment, give whoever coach the best tools the recruitment this summer and we’ll thrive. We’re in a position of strength. I’m optimistic than anything about the next era, despite some poor performances.
