@chris_otautahi@hamhammer27 Yes, if you've never been to Lidcombe Station before to try and get to Olympic Park, it is very useful. Just like those street or shopping mall directories which say "you are here".
Still looking for Donald Cameron Currie (ex Canterbury/CD). Appears to have left NZ late 1980s. Sister Margaret Joyce Inness played for @WHITE_FERNS. She died in Wellington 2012. Possibly some family who may know? @Penny_kins
@kiwigolfrentals@PictureSporting All accounts of the time rate him very highly. Selected to tour Australia with the NZ team when only 19. Played his last first-class game still aged just 20.
Rupert Hickmont was one of New Zealand's most promising young batsmen, making his FC debut aged 17 and touring Australia with NZ in 1913-14. He enlisted in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force in 1915 and was killed in action on the Somme in September 1916. He was 22. Wisden lamented he "was probably the most promising young cricketer in the Dominion, and his early death will be felt severely when the game is resumed"
My grandfather was born 150 years ago today at North End Farm, Dunsby, Lincolnshire. Built in the early 1800s and designated as a Grade 2 listed building in 1987.

Originally from 1949 NZ Almanack when he was described as (without checking exact wording) "the biggest man currently playing international cricket". A keen student of cricket history. He saw Hammond's 336* at Eden Park.
Speaking of Colin Snedden (Martin's uncle) in another post. One of the biggest men to play test cricket, bowled fast off-breaks and appeared in what was then NZ's first test after WW2 (v ENG 1947). Legendary broadcaster who I was lucky enough to work alongside.
Michael Snedden took his first 5 wicket bag in first-class cricket today, making three direct generations to perform the feat after father Martin and great-grandfather Nessie. Unique in NZ cricket. Martin's uncle Colin also did so, thus covering four generations #PlunketShield
Another NZ first-class player found. Hutt Valley pace bowler Tom Watson died in London in 2012 aged 68. Played one game for NZ U23 v Canterbury in 1964/65 dismissing Brian Hastings (who made 226). Blair Furlong famously took a hat-trick for U23s.
Following up my recent post on Wellington's oldest first-class cricketer after the passing of Trevor McMahon. Ian Brennan (95) is confirmed as still going strong and still playing competitive bowls. Described as an inspiration to the other members of his bowling club.
The son of Emile McMaster, he of golden duck in his one & only 1st class match, a Test v South Africa no less, also played one 1st class match. Michael McAllister turned out for the Royal Navy in 1920. He scored 7* & 6 & took 0-18 & 1-55. He did better than Dad but not by much.
Gerald William (Gerry) Stewart (ND) is one NZ player I'm looking for. Last on electoral roll 1978 Rotorua. Some Ancestry trees have him died Rotorua 1979 which is not correct. No longer on the NZ roll doesn't someone's died. Possibly went to Australia.
@FPayne100@shortflyslip I was at the ground too and couldn't believe how calm under pressure Steady was, taking it to the last ball to hit the winning boundary and inadvertently reach his 100!
@shortflyslip@marc_ellison Yes, I did that game with Sky TV. Apart from the exciting finish. I do remember Adam Parore's very good knock. Two days later we were at the Basin where CD were bowled out for 58 in reply to Wellington's 168 all out. This was TV coverage between the Bangladesh & England tours.
@NewLynnStranger Thanks. That prompted me to do another search of the electoral rolls and I found that since 1998 he's been transcribed as Lan Telford Donnelly. Hiding in plain sight...
NZ first-class cricketers who dropped off electoral roll pre-2010 but no death record in NZ. Anyone know where they are now?

OTD in 1964, the Beach Boys performed live. Al Jardine seemed to be enjoying it, Brian Wilson's falsetto and Mike Love's great vocals (while chewing gum!).
