@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 True. The mindset needs to change in off season and trade deadline. Forget looking for only a rhh bat. If a good lhh bat is available, get him. Not many pitching staffs can stack lefty pitchers against you anyway.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Crazy to say the bats were “decent” yesterday. But getting 2 of the 3 hits to be homers, I guess, qualifies. Just be decent and they have a chance in almost every game.

@FRBaseball4 @BrettThackABC27 I saw it coming last night too. He seems to be really impacted by the pitch timer and now the ABS system. I remember before the timer he was pretty slow on the mound. His breaking stuff and sinker are still decent pitches. Stay away from the 4 seamer unless it’s a surprise pitch.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 No doubt. That was a quality win. Problem is they return home and go completely invisible vs Petty. Williams. Messick. Just be decent vs 1 or 2 of them.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Agreed. Got the pitching. Just need bats to be decent. There’s a chance that could happen. Just little evidence of it happening on a sustained basis. That’s the issue.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Phillies had a 23-21 regular season record vs winning teams. Tied for 3rd with the Giants. The postseason is when you face a good team and a top 3 pitcher from those teams. Regular season you catch number 4s and 5s and get “false positives”.

@FRBaseball4 @BrettThackABC27 The team won 96 games last year & had the best record against teams w/ winning records. I’m not sure other than the playoffs against Dodgers where this comes from. Is the offense disappointing? Yes. But any option this offseason is not working out for their current team either.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Dbacks at home 2023 October. Mets October 2024. LA 2025. Per Dom. “This team is built to win championships”. The majority of the fan base cares about October since that’s what “they’re built for” not to mention paid handsomely for. The bats are far below decent in those moments

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Yes. All teams lose series to inferior teams during the regular season. The point is with 2 Cy Young candidates and 2 more quality starting pitchers the bats just need to be decent vs good teams/pitchers. But for 3+ years they aren’t decent in those situations.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 That’s the point. Every team has guys that miss time. Kyle missing 3 games is very insignificant compared to what the Braves and Dodgers have dealt with this season.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Braves. Acuna jr. Strider. Baldwin and others. Dodgers. Betts. Glasnow. Edman. Snell and others. All of the above have missed a lot more games than Kyle. Kyle misses 3 games and it’s used as an excuse? Versus a Reds team 2 games above 500 and Phillies were home.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 Brett. Eat burgers or hot dogs. No crow or crow legs ever needed with these bats. Started with the epic fail October-23 (at home) vs D backs and still going strong vs good teams/pitching in 26.

@DopplerDan @BrettThackABC27 They’re hitting against good pitchers/teams goes back long before this year or this week. This week was just more of the same, especially in October.

@BrettThackABC27 @FRBaseball4 I mean I’m not sure what to tell the two of you. Hitting is down across the league. Games are going to be tight all year against good teams. You aren’t going to win them all especially when your hottest power hitter missed three games abruptly.

@BrettThackABC27 @DopplerDan Unfortunately it’s much more than a short term trend. Even though they have the 4th highest payroll, apparently they’ll need the gm to pull off a big trade to possibly save the bats. But they did own the Giants, Rockies, and Marlins 2 weeks ago 😂

@FRBaseball4 @DopplerDan It really is amazing. The team simply can’t hit good pitching. And I stated I needed to see them against better teams. Well? We just lost two series at home and couldn’t hit. Same ol troubles I say. Now we go out west and I dread to think what that will do.

@ricanbol215 @JonMarksMedia Dombroski mismanaged many contracts that lead to them “not having the $” for Ranger. Incompetence.

@JonMarksMedia They really picked him over Suarez. It might be ignorant to look at it from that perspective, but that’s just my opinion. I also think that the rumor of the Braves being “in” on him drove the price up.

@FRBaseball4 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan Just remember, Bryce Harper campaigned for Casty and Turner to come here. So you can't blame every shitty contract on Dave. Harper is behind a lot of the roster construction problems.

So Dombrowski: ✅Signed Nola to one of the worst contracts in baseball ✅in doing so had to let Ranger Suarez go ✅Signed Max Kepler last year, Adolis Garcia this year in his revolving door of RF ✅released Castellanos and Walker. So $37 million just unused. (There’s more!)

@flyers212844 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan It was an exaggerated example. Smh. Bottom line, the contract is horrible. Along with 8 others in the last 4/5 years. I wish you luck watching Nola try to pitch moving forward until it ends like Walker. And there will be several spots in October that Ranger will be missed. Facts

@FRBaseball4 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan So on a team that just lost in the NLCS you would bring up a minor league pitcher to fill out our rotation? Recency bias is controlling your narrative.

@flyers212844 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan You can pitch dozens of minor leaguers to achieve 6+ era. After 2030 you will look back and see 1 average year. 3 horrible years. 3 years dfa’d. If that’s your definition of a good contract then you should keep defending Dumbo. Romano and now Garcia also great. Tons of $ flushed

@FRBaseball4 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan Copout. You want to critique the signing but can't offer an alternative. It was the move to make at that time. They whiffed on Yamamoto. Nola was the best available.

@flyers212844 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan Not my job. And I don’t get millions to make those decisions. Middleton gives him tons of $ to spend. So that’s not the issue either. Bottom line. The Nola contract was and is horrible. Same with several others he made.

@flyers212844 @mhartg1 @Pat_Egan 7 years at 170+ mill for a low velo pitcher in his 30s with tons of innings pitched was and is a horrible decision. Easy to predict and 2025 and beyond is now factual. Many other bad/horrible contracts by him are also factual. If you get paid millions you should be better
