Lastly, we thank the dedicated advocates in Llano who have supported library patrons day in and day out for the last several years. We will continue to fight alonside them.

For more background on what is at stake for library users’ first amendment rights, Texas Public Radio has a good roundup. For our part, we will continue to adamantly support the first amendment and the right of local readers. tpr.org/education/2025…

The Supreme Court has declined to take up Little V. Llano. What does this mean? The court has now left a confusing patchwork of laws where library users in different states have different first amendment rights. That’s not fair nor comprehensible. @TXFreedomRead

This. Districts - if you are using A.I. to vet books, stop. ➡️ "AI systems built to 'flag' books are not neutral. They replicate the worldview they are built on. And right now, that worldview is hostile to many of the students we are supposed to serve." aischoollibrarian.substack.com/p/the-most-dan…

The attack was filmed and clearly coordinated, and the video was shared by House rep Brian Harrison. Then—chillingly—the story picked up the Assistant Attorney General for what used to be the civil rights division of the DOJ, who promised an investigation.

Thank heavens @AngelaPaxtonTX’s bill is protecting Texas kids from, Charlotte’s Web. Heaven forbid a librarian be able to purchase it without first waiting months for a parents only committee vote, then a 30 day public review period, and then a school board vote. 🙄🙄🙄
TX Freedom to Read Project@TXFreedomRead

Are you paying attention yet? Charlotte’s Web is being withheld from North Texas elementary school students because S.B. 13 is a bad law. dallasobserver.com/news/north-tex…

Hell. Yes. SB12 is immoral, unjust, and *wildly* unconstitutional. These students are going to take it down.

CLASSROOMS WITHOUT BOOKS. This is the fruit of SB13. Melissa ISD is forbidding class libraries, book bins, & reading corners after book banners forced the law over objections of Texas parents. The law doesn’t require it. But we @TXFreedomRead told legislators it would happen.

Regarding SB13, districts are trying to adhere to the law but when a law is as poorly written, confusing, & impractical as this one, it’s not possible. The law doesn’t work! All of our blame lies directly w/the legislators who created this mess, & those who pushed it forward.

Get to know what Tx SB13 says by reading it. Here’s how it defines library materials, and what the state considers instructional.

Two days. Hundreds of heartfelt conversations with fellow Texas parents who love our school libraries and librarians as much as we do. We were once again reminded censorship is absolutely NOT what the majority of Texas parents want. Don’t mess with Texas parents. 💙📚

We fully support our LGBTQ friends, families, and authors. This Mahmoud SC decision weaponizes typical opt-out school policies in favor of bigotry and exclusion of many students and families’ stories.

Great news in runoff for the Salado (Tx) Public Library Board: Dana Rojas defeats Stephen Sequeira for trustee. Big electoral win over the book banners.

We believe in the right of students to access age relevant materials with the guidance of parents and educators. We believe in the power of libraries and we believe in the good librarians continue to do for families. Unfailingly. Unflinchingly. Forever.
