My most unexpected find this week, Birdsfoot, a species I've never seen before, and not recorded locally. I found it in a friend's raised veg bed in Plumpton Green. I wonder where the seeds came from?

@graemelyons It's largely forgotten now, but in the 1980s the FSC's AIDGAP project was regularly sneered at. Using unintelligible and dispiriting ID keys was viewed as an obligatory rite of passage.

One of the worst things to ever happen to natural history is the production of these pointless identification apps. They are not solving a problem (nature was always there for all), they are creating one (by inhibiting learning). Get a field guide and learn something yourself!
