What are Trustees? Trustees are individuals or institutions that hold and safeguard the assets of a unit trust scheme on behalf of investors. They ensure the scheme operates in line with its rules and applicable regulations, while protecting investors’ interests. Trustees also help oversee the management of the scheme and provide a mechanism for resolving disputes between investors and fund managers. #Capitalmarkets #Publiceducation

The 2024 amendments to the Income Tax Act were designed to create investor friendly tax reforms for the capital markets space. @EUinUG @DFF_Uganda @fsduganda @CmaUganda

We are very keen on how we can facilitate development of markets;tightening the value chain of the capital marketplace of private capital markets,ensuring seamless flow of deals,right from sourcing,preparing these companies supporting them to become investment-ready. @fsduganda

Under these regulations, funds may now be structured as; - Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs) - Limited Liability Companies (LLCs) - Trust structures

Uganda has moved closer to international best practice with the current @CmaUganda (Licensing and Approval) Regulations, 2025. The legal framework now recognizes private capital funds as a distinct investment structure.

Just this year, @jlutwama noted that the amount of money government is borrowing from the domestic market is more than what they're borrowing externally. That has a huge bearing on the capital available in the banking sector for the private sector. @fsduganda @CmaUganda
