Today, Hon.@fmwebesa1 paid a visit to a newly established fruit factory - OranaGate Factory, located in Namanve Industrial Park. The factory will add value to Uganda's pineapples, mangoes, and passion fruits, producing pulp and concentrates /1

He added that the factory will be taking in 5 tonnes per hour of fresh fruits, approximately 120 tonnes per day, and will also be an incubating for farmers on value addition. They also plan to establish a farm /4

Mr. Richard Munyaneza, the Country Director said that they plan to work with cooperative groups and out-growers, and to establish a nucleus farm for training and organic farming. He noted that this will improve quality, increase incomes, and stabilize the supply chain. /3

He warned against one major pitfall: taking credit and failing to repay. If cooperators can master financial discipline, Uganda's 60-80% population outside the money economy can drastically reduce. /3

The biggest challenges facing cooperatives in Uganda are internal, not external. Through research and investigations, it has been found that most cooperatives collapse due to internal managerial failures, leadership conflicts, and poor governance—not outside forces. /2
