Attended as Chief Guest this morning at the Opening Ceremony of the ‘Palliative Care Conference’ organised by @AYATeducation at Dhaka Club. I stressed on the need for mainstreaming palliative healthcare while pointing out the areas where international collaboration may come handy

Pleasure meeting Dr. Cherdsak Virapat, DG @cirdap79 at my office this morning. We discussed ways and means of furthering collaboration to achieve the goal of rural development and poverty reduction. He also requested Bangladesh to move a resolution at the UN in this regard.

Had the honor to deliver welcome remarks at the 45th Session of the D-8 Commission held in Dhaka this morning. I congratulate @D8org on its 25th Anniversary. We commit to reap the full potential of this platform through deeper cooperation and exploring new areas of cooperation.

Honored to receive H.E. Mr. Claudio Javier Rozencwaiz, Under Secretary of Argentine MoFA. Discussed how to reap the full potentials of 🇧🇩- 🇦🇷. Also witnessed signing of the MoU on bilateral consultations between the two countries. 🇦🇷 is going to open their Mission in Dhaka soon.

It was my pleasure to receive Mr. Kano Takehiro, Assistant Minister, Southeast and Southwest Asian Affairs Division of Japanese MOFA. Discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interests between 🇧🇩 and 🇯🇵. We also explored how to increase trade & investment between two countries.

I also elaborated on efforts of Bangladesh to comprehensively resolve the Rohingya crisis through repatriation and requested international community’s sustained support in this regard. I wish the delegation a pleasant and fruitful visit to 🇧🇩.

I underscored continued, coordinated, and enhanced role of the UN Development System (UNDS) in the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh. The President and members highly appreciated the development & growth of Bangladesh.

Hosted the Executive Board of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS at a working lunch today at State Guest House Padma. The delegation was led by H.E. Ms. Yoka Brandt, President of the Executive Board and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations.

It was an honor and pleasure to be at National Defence College this morning. Enjoyed having a very engaging session on the Foreign Policy of Bangladesh with a diverse group of senior officers. Heartfelt thanks to Lt Gen Akbar Hossain, the Commandant for his very warm hospitality.

It was an honor to receive the Secretary General of SAARC H.E. Mr. Esala Ruwan Weerakon at the State Guest House Padma in his introductory visit to 🇧🇩. We discussed the important role SAARC is plying for the cohesion and prosperity of the region overcoming various challenges.

Pleasure meeting the Non-resident Ambassdor of Lithuania to Bangladesh H.E. Julius Pranevicius this morning at State Guest House Padma. Explored ways and means to further our bilateral relations with particular focus on trade and investment.

I am delighted to meet my Singaporean counterpart, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs H.E. Albert Chua at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore a while ago. We touched upon the full range of bilateral issues between 🇧🇩 and 🇸🇬.

Honored to meet H.E. Maliki bin Osman, the Hon'ble Minister for Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore this afternoon. Discussed wide range of issues of mutual interest between our two friendly countries.

Delighted to interact with the Trainee Diplomats of some of our friendly countries this morning at Foreign Service Academy. I shared with them our foreign policy priorities while also got enriched with their feedbacks.

Met Ms. Alice Wairimu Nderitu, UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide a while ago. Had fruitful discussion on attaining due international recognition of the Genocide of 1971 and also the Genocide that took place in Rakhaine in 2017.

Had a fruitful meeting with Ms. Wendy Sherman @DeputySecState this afternoon. Discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest at a very congenial atmosphere.

Had a fruitful meeting this morning with Asst. Secy (Bureau of Population, Refugee & Migration) Ms. Julieta Valls Noyes at State Dept. We discussed in detail issues pertaining to Rohingyas from Myanmar temporarily sheltered in Bangladesh.
