I can't ever remember this much scrutiny over course sets up even 10 or 15 years ago. You want to see something different every week, surely? Just enjoy the golf!

People were building up to criticise the PGA set up for being too easy. The players are struggling and now its too tough! We see enough winning scores in the -20s. A major that sees them having to grind it out is fine by me. A different watch but equally entertaining.

I’m usually the one doing the interviewing and writing the profiles, so it’s very unusual for me to be interviewed for a bit of a profile. Very humbled with @FTClubhouse asked me and James has done a wonderful job with the piece. Check it out below.

@Swingtheclubken Tough to watch that, I really felt for her. Clearly a massive talent with a big future, though.

My heart goes out to Miss Talley who was tied for the lead and made a 7 on 12 at Augusta. Many more experienced than her at age 17 have hit two in the water from that back bunker. She has to be crushed right now.

Thank god he hasn't killed anyone, or himself, getting behind the wheel when he shouldn't have (again). I do hope he gets the help and support that he needs. I hope there are genuine friends in his small circle and not just yes men and hangers on. Unfortunately, I doubt it.

He's made massive mistakes. Pretty much all of which you can draw a line back to his father. That's not to condone but rather to show that, like everyone else, he's human. The difference being he has had to live out all his misdemeanours in front of the whole world.

The Tiger Woods news is predictably polarising. The guy is an awkward loner, a social recluse who became one of the most famous people in the world. He was humiliated over his extra-marital affairs. Lost both parents. Body broke down before he could break every record there is.

@onparopinions Good point, I hadn't thought about the possibility of taking someone's spot. Think I agree on only putting cards in for comps, though the most accurate measure would be a card submitted for every round? But then you're losing the joy of a friendly knockabout.

@FTClubhouse Not really harmless if they're taking someone's spot at a big amateur event! I'm a big believer that cards should only be handed in within a competition and no supplementary ones allowed once you reach a certain level.

Lots of criticism with the WHS of high handicappers winning events on 46 points. But are 'vanity handicappers' just as bad? Those who only hand in their best cards so they can tell everyone how low their index is? Harmless, perhaps, but against the spirit of the game?

@403golf I've had the exact same thought. He's in great form going in to it and that counts a lot in these big, early events. He will finish top 10 I think but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wins it.

Thinking this upcoming week at the Players Championship could be a huge one for Min Woo Lee. Co-leader thru 36 holes last year and 2nd thru 54 holes in 2024 Was the end result as good? No especially last yr but.. Some great results lately. T6 this week, T12 Genesis, T2 Pebble

@MMcEwanGolf Think that's one that all golfers should hear! Amazing how many people pay towards 100 quid all in for a day out on the course and allow a few bad shots to ruin the whole thing.

I'd love if you gave it a read. He's a fantastic guy with a unique story, and I'll certainly be rooting for him to get some wins under his belt this season. Sometimes these players just need a break or two to go their way. Robbie is definitely due one.

Robbie has had blows in his career, most notably after returning to Scotland, covid hitting and having to cut ties with a promising sponsor. Turning 30 this month, he feels this year could be his last chance.
