PGA Championship Round 1 Update:
- Heavy rain overnight made for a damp course at the start
- Jaeger (-4) and Cauley (-3) are the top 2 scores out there which leans towards a trend towards history and a winner not getting to double digits
- They are taking risks while top golfers seem to be playing their game
- Schauffele, Min Woo, and Cam Smith are the biggest names at -2 but the course has fought back. All of them are thru at least 8 holes and have multiple bogeys

If what we've seen so far from the Yankees this year is that the usual longer leashes for Gary, Hicks, Torres, etc are much shorter. If he shows no changes, can't get on base and run (which he does best), and his fielding sucks Cabby gets the spot. Volpe and Jazz need to look at what Cabby is doing with far less talent and do that. Yankees are a better team if Volpe/Jazz play to their strenghts and Cabby is the utility guy playing about 3 out of 5 games, but if Volpe can't play they are better Cabby as the SS
English

Arm fatigue is 100% a concern for younger pitchers in today’s game. I definitely don’t hate the idea of it, but the Yankees have messed up with that in recent years. Hughes, Joba, Severino are the first that come to mind. If the rotation stays healthy by the time Cole comes back moving to a 6 man rotation would benefit in less innings but keep him in the starting pitcher mentality
English

This post upset a lot of Yankees fans. Let me explain my thinking.
Cam Schlittler is currently on pace to throw 204 innings, and that doesn’t include the playoffs. He has never thrown more than 150.
Are we not even a little bit worried about this kid’s arm being spent for what looks like our best chance to win the World Series in 15 years?
I’m not saying I’d definitely move him to the pen for a couple months. But I think it’s worth asking how we keep this kid at 100% for a deep playoff run.
That’s Baseball, Suzyn@Thats_BB_Suzyn
Cam Schlittler to the bullpen for a couple of months might be the answer. He shouldn’t be throwing 200 innings this year anyway. Let him fill the Michael King role. 2-3 innings at a time every 3-4 days. Then back to the rotation by July.
English

Can’t speak for others but for me it’s more his consistent energy to the lineup and ability to play multiple positions. If Volpe focused on getting on base and not launch angle he would be more of an issue than Cabby on the bases, probably get his confidence back, and would also go back to the fielder he was. It’s the ability to play/execute small ball which is needed in any lineup that wants to win a ring
English

Okay, I’ll bite.
Yankee fans love the idea of Cabby more than Cabby himself. They love that he’s not Volpe and it’s something different.
He’s not some difference making SS. The fact he’s the first universally loved SS in 7 years says more about the organization than Cabby.
Talkin' Yanks@TalkinYanks
First universally beloved Yankees shortstop in seven years going on the IL with an injury none of us even knew happened

@BBGreatMoments Under appreciated and overlooked on the late 90’s early 00’s Yankees dynasty teams
One of the many players for any team that was an afterthought to most during the steroid era

- Bet the hot hand
- If a player has 3 straight top-20s, ride the momentum

The rule states it is up to umpire discretion when it comes to the play we are looking at. In some scenarios the ump could call him out and the pushoff can't be reviewed. Some scenarios the runner could've clearly been sliding off the bag but the umpire called the play dead, runner is safe, even if there was no pushoff. The "umpre discretion" part of the rule when I looked it up after it happened was what the "grey area" part of the comment was. A clear intentional pushoff is obvious but an unintentional play is up for how the umpire sees fit. Just makes you think
English

@FTO_Fun @Okie_Doke_2 @JomboyMedia To me the difference is one is a contact sport the other is not. You can’t rule on intentions. I would jump and “unintentionally” push the guy off every time.
English

I don't even know if there is a way to fix it. If they change it player is hurt play is dead you could run into players thinking fast and flopping. The other issue which I believe is correct, since the ump said the play was dead the only reviewable part is the initial tag. So even in an instance where that play happens but the runners slide is clearly coming off the bag before the unintentional landing it can't be reviewed. I could be wrong but that was my interpretation of the rule
English

@FTO_Fun @JomboyMedia Completely agree - I think the rule could have more clarity especially in this instance. I’m an O’s fan but don’t have a problem with the Yankees - they’ve always been a class organization. I definitely understand the frustration.
