It's worse. I'm a sound designer, and I work with stock sound effects libraries constantly. I hear "CS gunshots", the "Doom door", "Half-Life 2 physics", that "ship metal creak", and other iconic sounds everywhere, and can often pinpoint the libraries they come from.
