The Foundation is pleased to announce a transformative fundraising campaign in veterinary medicine, anchored by a generous $1.5 million gift from Claudine and Fritz Kundrun. The Foundation’s Vet program advances focused ultrasound technology to benefit companion animals and their owners. To date, it has funded nearly 30 clinical trials across 13 conditions, including osteosarcoma, lymphoma, heart disease, diabetes, and tumors in the liver, bladder, brain, and mouth. The first commercial focused ultrasound treatment for chronic low back pain in the US has been performed at the Carolinas Pain Institute in North Carolina using FUSMobile’s Neurolyser XR system. This first-of-its-kind noninvasive technology precisely targets and ablates sensory nerves associated with spinal facet joints, one of the leading sources of chronic low back pain. Three key clinical trials using #FUS (Focused Ultrasound) to mediate #BBB opening : i) @UMDNsgyChair @TheLancetOncol; ii) Alexandre Carpentier @roger_stupp @NatureComms ; iii) @DrWuRadOnc @ScienceTM 2. BT008NA shows a survival benefit, compared to external matched controls, a phase 3 pivotal trial could establish FUS-temozolomide as a new approach. 3) Using SonoCloud-9, Carpentier et al. showed a mOS of 14.0 months, encouraging since the patients with #rGBM were MGMT unmethylated, wild-type recurrent GBM; the cohort receiving #carboplatin prior to opening #BBB showed superior control of tumor growth, suggesting timing is key; clinical efficacy is being evaluated in a larger, pivotal trial (NCT05902169). 4) Cheng-Chia Wu et al. showed that #FUS could open the #BBB deep in the #brainstem and #thalamus using a #HDAC inhibitor, #panobinostat, in children with relapsed #DMG.
