Physics Photo Of the Day: Dr. C.V Raman teaching Diffraction, circa 1960s. Indian theoretical physicist who was awarded the 1930 Nobel prize in Physics for his works on light scattering, called the 'Raman effect'. He was the first Asian to receive a Nobel Prize in any sciences.

Last experiment of the year, this time seriously! Melting a carbonaceous chondrite fragment at 1500 deg under reducing conditions to simulate atmospheric entry of micrometeorites and examine volatile loss.

Students got excited for seeing this video of a vesiculation experiment performed using a hydrothermal moissanite cell, showing (literally) a magma breathing.
