The EU's new Entry/Exit System replaces passport stamping with biometric checks, meaning all passengers arriving from non-EU countries must be photographed and fingerprinted at border crossings and airports as the new Entry and Exit System (EES) becomes fully operational on April 10. The aim is to maintain a digital record of when non-EU residents travel to the Schengen area, for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period.
