Now I know Tinubu's Policies Aren't the Problem — By Farooq Kperogi 🔥👇 As I pointed out in my Saturday Tribune column, a common refrain among online devotees of Nigerian opposition figures is that they would rather endure Tinubu until 2031 than support any opposition politician other than their preferred candidate, even as they denounce Tinubu’s policies day and night. That is both mystifying and clarifying. It suggests that, for many of them, the quarrel is not really with Tinubu’s governance, ideology or policies. It is with the fact that their favorite politician is not the one presiding over them. They would tolerate, rationalize, perhaps even loudly defend the very policies they now condemn if those policies came wrapped in the colors of their own candidate. If you are prepared to live through four more years of what you claim to find intolerable simply because you cannot bear the thought of another opposition figure succeeding Tinubu, then Tinubu’s policies are not your problem. Tinubu himself is. More precisely, your problem is Tinubu's occupancy of a seat you believe belongs to someone you admire, worship or share the same identity with. And that is fine. I only appreciate the clarity. Opposition infighting has stripped many people’s politics of its costume and shown that what often disguises as principle is merely identitarian investment. Since many, perhaps most, people don't really have a problem with Tinubu's policies and can tolerate them for four more years as a price to deny the ascendancy of people they don't like, I think it's more psychically liberating to make peace with his second term.

Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart, and despite every constraint, I felt compelled to share these thoughts with you. Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily—the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face while trying to survive and serve sincerely in difficult circumstances. We now live in an environment that has become increasingly toxic, where the very system that should protect and create opportunities for decent living often works against the people—a society where intimidation, insecurity, endless scrutiny, and discouragement have become normal. More painful is when some of those you associate with, believing you would find understanding and solidarity among them, become part of the pressure you face. Some who publicly identify with you privately distance themselves or join in unfair criticism. We live in a society where humility is mistaken for weakness, respect is seen as a lack of courage, and compassion is treated as foolishness—a system where treating people equally is questioned simply because you refuse to worship status, tribe, class, or power. Personally, I have never looked down on anyone except to uplift them. I have never used privilege, position, or resources to oppress others, intimidate the weak, or make people feel small. To me, leadership has always been about service, sacrifice, and helping others rise. Let me state clearly: my decision to leave the ADC is not because our highly respected Chairman, Senator David Mark, treated me badly, nor because my leader and elder brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, or any other respected leaders did anything personally wrong to me. I will continue to respect them. However, the same Nigerian state and its agents that created unnecessary crises and hostility within the Labour Party that forced me to leave now appear to be finding their way into the ADC, with endless court cases, internal battles, suspicion, and division, instead of focusing on deeper national problems and playing politics built more on control and exclusion than on service and nation-building. Even within spaces where one labours sincerely, one is sometimes treated like an outsider in one’s own home. You and your team become easy targets for every failure, frustration, or misunderstanding, as though honest contribution has become a favour being tolerated rather than appreciated. And when you choose to leave so that those you are leaving can have peace, and you step out into the cold, you are still maligned and your character is questioned. Despite all your efforts to continue working for a better Nigeria and engaging people with sincerity and goodwill, those who do not wish you well continue to attack your character and question your intentions. There are moments I ask God in prayer: Why is doing the right thing often misconstrued as wrongdoing in our country? Why is integrity not valued? Why is the prudent management of resources, especially when invested in critical areas like education and healthcare, wrongly labelled as stinginess? Why are humility and obedience to the rule of law often taken to be weakness rather than discipline? Let me assure all that I am not desperate to be President, Vice President, or Senate President. I am desperate to see a society that can console a mother whose child has been kidnapped or killed while going to school or work. I am desperate to see a Nigeria where people will not live in IDP camps but in their homes. I am desperate for a country where Nigerian citizens do not go to bed hungry, not knowing where their next meal will come from. Yet, despite everything, I remain resolute. I firmly believe that Nigeria can still become a country with competent leadership based on justice, compassion, and equal opportunity for all. A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

When Malam El-Rufai said, “I have already completed my calculations; Bola Tinubu will come third in the 2027 election,” many people thought he was just joking. But now, it is becoming clear. HE Atiku Abubakar vs HE Seyi Makinde = ADC HE Peter Obi vs HE Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso = NDC HE Bola Ahmed Tinubu vs Unknown Candidate = APC

Cowards Die Many Times Nigeria is a republic. There are no first class and second class citizens. You cannot continue to insist on bossing everyone else, even those better than you. If a man won over 6m votes, excluding those not counted, he deserves the respect of being treated as an integer, not a fraction. For those who care to know, if O cannot win, A cannot win. If O and A need to be together to win, then it should be OA this time, not AO

Yesterday in Ibadan I had an encounter with someone that made me realise that we have not spoken about the travails we face enough! He was shocked that I was not surprised about how the OAU, Ife event Peter Obi @PeterObi was supposed to attend turned out! I told him it is a normal thing we face. I went on to ask him why does he think Peter Obi usually visits private Nursing schools or those run by missionaries? He didn’t know. I told him because the ones run by government would not allow him to visit or the officials take anything from him. While people were making assumptions that he was being biased in favouring some sections of the country, it was really because they were the ones that will welcome him. I told him about Chibok community. They reached out to me about the Chibok school from which 276 #ChibokGirls were abducted from in 2014 did not have computers. As soon as I told Mr Peter Obi he told me to make arrangement with the school that we will visit Chibok donate computers and printers (which they had not even asked for) and access other needs that they have and take care of them. First we were denied from going. Then Mr Peter Obi suggested we visit the capital and give them or any neighboring state, that was also turned down. The next was bringing the principal and some teachers with students to Abuja. They were not allowed to come. At the end Mr Peter Obi met with some members of the chibok community in Abuja and handed over the computers and printers to them with monetary assistance which he gave. @salakwa1 can provide more details sef! Most of the charity is with coconut head! They have been doing everything to truncate it!

) Nafiu gombe went to the high court to restrain David mark and others from parading themselves as executives of the party. 2) The high court asked the David mark team to present their case and state why the order should not be granted 3) Instead David mark ignored and headed to the Appeal court to challenge the case. 4) The appeal court ordered Ante bellum and INEC removed David mark name from the register 5) David Mark went further to the supreme court to challenge ante bellum. 6) Supreme court voids ante bellum order by the appeal court and ordered David mark back to the high court for trial. 7) ADC people are celebrating and I am amazed especially because of the time constraint in the electoral act. 8) Why did you waste your time all along only to return to where you were at the beginning. 9) This is like a snake and ladder game where a bite returs you to the bottom while the other players have almost finished to game. 10) Again why are they jubilating?

If today Nigeria is divided, the North will be the most developed of all the regions. People threatening the unity of Nigeria thinking the North will languish in poverty have no idea how rich Northern Nigeria is.
