Today marks the 37th anniversary of Canada's worst terrorist attack -- the bombing of #AirIndia182 in 1985. All 329 people aboard, predominantly Canadian families, perished. The words of Mark Stagg, who helped pull bodies from the ocean, remain as salient now as then.

#ForeverCanadian never has and never will accept any money from outside of Canada. Our system is set up to reject foreign donations. We fully disclosed and reconciled all of our finances with Elections Alberta. Transparency matters. Canadiens will save Canada. #ableg #cdnpoli

Elections Alberta is concerned that separatists are funded by USA. Alberta Government lawyer argues that there is no evidence of that, yet separatists refuse to file financial disclosure. Why is Alberta Governement defending separatists in court? #ableg theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta…

Dear @TheTorontoSun, you keep publishing this and it remains incorrect. Freight transport is not subject to the industrial carbon tax. Also, almost all food processing plants are too small to be covered by industrial carbon pricing.

I asked the question that should keep Ottawa up at night: Does the potential willingness of a Trump administration to recognize a unilateral declaration of independence — by Quebec or Alberta — matter?

🙏@TristinHopper for shedding light on the overlooked details & investigative blunders in AI182 that let key perpetrators walk free. The Khalistan movement is a Canadian issue. I’d welcome the opportunity to come on your podcast & share my perspective. open.spotify.com/episode/5AozLI…

Khalistan movement has a bloody record of over 50 years, from 🇮🇳 to 🇨🇦. It claimed over 21,000 lives in 🇮🇳 (more than 5 deaths a day for over a decade), devastated Punjab’s once-prosperous economy, & in 🇨🇦 culminated in the murder of 331 people in the Air India Kanishka bombing. There is nothing ‘peaceful’ about that, least of all for Canadians, who paid the highest price in the West. The article conveniently jumps to Operation Blue Star without acknowledging what led up to it, or what followed. @WinStarWilhelm, listen to this 28 July 1984 video from WSO’s inauguration, calling for revenge months before the anti-Sikh violence in Delhi. This video went into official evidence for one of the suspects of the Kanishka Bombings. The proposed Khalistan map excludes even an inch of Pakistan, despite Pakistan receiving the larger share of Punjab during partition. More strikingly, under that very map, Sikhs would still be a minority. @TheWindsorStar windsorstar.com/news/local-new…

From @ShashiTharoor: "Yes, Gandhi taught us the power of moral witness. Yes, Nehru spoke of international law as the foundation of peace. But both also understood the the imperatives of national interest. Their legacy is not one of rigid dogma, but of wise adaptation."
Shashi Tharoor@ShashiTharoor

My latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress explains why I have not joined the widespread liberal critique of the Indian government’s “moral failure” to condemn the US-Israeli attack on Iran. India has too much at stake to indulge in the morally gratifying grandstanding that could have placed vital national interests at risk. As the late Kofi Annan advised me, citing a Ghanaian proverb: “never hit a man on the head when you have your fingers between his teeth!”

Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar and his uncle C. V. Raman form a rare Nobel legacy in one family. Raman won the 1930 Nobel Prize in Physics for discovering the Raman Effect, and Chandrasekhar followed decades later with the 1983 Nobel Prize for his profound work on the structure and evolution of stars.

Thank you Meera, for once again highlighting the Canadian discourse! 'Even in 2024, in its 40th year anniversary publication, CSIS could not bring itself to be transparent about who brought down the plane and the failings of CSIS to prevent the bombing. Instead, they wrote: “In 1985, Canada-based extremists planted and detonated a bomb on Air India Flight 182, killing all 329 people onboard, the majority being Canadian.'
Meera Nair@FairDuty

I doubt that anything I write will bring any comfort to the family and friends of Nancy Grewal. But I hope that the circumstances that led to her murder might compel Canadian journalists to reconsider what they say, or rather what they choose not to say. june231985.wordpress.com/2026/03/12/for…

When CSIS talks about “detecting, investigating, and disrupting potentially lethal threats against individuals in Canada,” it’s not just talking about direct threats from police states, exactly. Two murders, a mysterious death and the media: therealstory.substack.com/p/two-murders-…
