@FaireeQueen

I'm me, not you. Of course my choices seem weird.

Pharmacy got new touch screens to request your Rx pickup at the counter. After they grabbed mine, the tech looked at my mask, my meds, and me touching the screen and pulled out the massive bottle of hand sanitizer they keep under counter and offered it to me 🤣

@KalSpriggs @BackWoodsBook2 I'm a reader, not a writer, and I do read incomplete series and debut novels. I like authors who directly engage with their audience especially with progress updates, even if those updates are delays. I've picked up 3 new series in progress from authors' TikTok videos.

@BackWoodsBook2 I self-pub, it doesn't change the fact that I've had many readers tell me straight out that they won't start a series that isn't finished already, which in turn makes it hard to keep writing in that series, when the time investment is so massive compared to the response/earnings.

Many Fantasy readers will not start a series until all the books are completed. GRRM's failure to finish caused many to quit the genre. Problem is, authors won't write a complete series if the first books don't sell. Tradpub says Fantasy is dead. What do we do about it?

@DailyJLee I'm not recovered. I'm pretty sure I won't ever be at this point. But not one person denied that this is COVID related, and long COVID is in my charts.

@DailyJLee I was well established with multiple specialists and had a good relationship with my PCP before COVID started. When I finally caught it 2 years ago, they did all the things. Any symptom got a total workup, referrals, scans, basically anything I asked (and a lot I didn't). /1

I guess I can see society in mass-denial of long covid, but healthcare, can healthcare really function in denial of disease, let alone the most widespread disease ever possibly, not sure

@CovidSolidarit1 One of the highlights of my day used to be online gaming and voice chat with 1 or 2 friends. No travel, getting ready, or food issues. That's gone for almost a year now, but it was nice while it lasted.

People really don’t understand that if you’re chronically ill and housebound you can’t just “hang out” with people. They have no idea of the physical and mental strain it represents.

Perfectly fine with him bringing them in even if I'm there tbh. Moms bring their boys into the women's all the time. I'd be fine if I was asked to help them while he waited outside too. Once again saying that communal restrooms are not the answer if we are so fragile.
Thrilla the Gorilla@ThrillaRilla369

To the women on this app please be honest: Would you be comfortable with a father bringing his young daughters into the women’s restroom if it’s completely empty, so the girls feel safe and at ease?

I really like the memory hole surround presymptomatic transmission of pathogens. Almost all infectious diseases have a window where you are contagious before you feel sick. It's why I have to assume that every single person I interact with *could* be sick tomorrow.

4 years later (than when originally posted), but a whole lot louder in a society that has accepted incessant/unnecessary sickness so as to uphold the post pandemic simulation.

@1goodtern I have 2 concerns with them: people who are using them to treat symptoms because no doctor has helped them yet and with very little ongoing testing to know that it's doing what they expected, and the number of people who had serious gastro side effects that didn't resolve

@ActualNosferatu I agree, along with how much we've muddied the waters with deception and outright lying from the beginning.

There can never be a cure as such. Too many organs and body systems are affected. All we can do is to treat symptoms for now. Chronic COVID will be, as I have been saying since 2020, the greatest health challenge we have ever faced. Research continues but I remain pessimistic.
Dr Elisa Perego@elisaperego78

We must be crystal clear about a few points. Long Covid is not a "poorly understood neuroimmune disorder" with no biomarkers. It is a widely studied biological medical condition. Pathology spanning basically all body systems is well documented, with damage in situ across organs

When society decides a mass disabling event is “over,” the people still suffering become invisible. Their illness becomes anxiety. Their disability becomes a personal failure. Their abandonment and subsequent isolation becomes their fault because “they chose to hang on to it.”

@singingsox On hold with a lab yesterday for something else, they had a dedicated voiceover stating they can't tell you if you need to fast and to call your doctor. To me this says "we told you to check, not our fault if it's wrong".

Do you think this is unchecked box meaning I do not need to fast, or a note that I do need to fast, but they used a box instead of a regular bullet point?? 🙃 It’s for Sjögrens and Lupus blood tests

My best friend in school had pierced ears before anyone else. They said their mom got tired of everyone ignoring the big pink bows and calling them a boy so they pierced them at 1 year old. To this day, the only person I've known to get them done as baby.
Elena@peliredfem
