The first Subnautica let you stab leviathans with a knife.
Now they want you to peacefully coexist with 50-meter monsters like it’s a underwater yoga class.
Why do developers treat their most loyal fans like this?
Why can’t they just answer normally without being condescending and aggressive?
Loyal players are the ones who supported you for years.
If you keep talking down to them, they’ll simply stop playing.
And in the end, you - the developers - will be the ones who lose the most.
Peak "go touch grass" energy in 2026.

Subnautica 2 devs say "go play Sons of the Forest" if you don't like its lack of violence. The game focuses on underwater exploration, and you cannot kill most creatures. On the official Discord, one player asked why killing is impossible in SN2 as it makes no sense. Level designer Artyom O’Rielly replied, “This is not a killing game, so go play Sons of the Forest if you want to kill.” Another developer said, “The team discusses this a lot inside the studio and may let players catch small fish for food, but large creatures will stay safe so the game feels right.” This idea comes from the first Subnautica, as the team wants players to discover things, feel wonder, and live with ocean life instead of fighting it. A fan-made mod already lets players kill creatures, and the studio is reading all feedback. It plans to add better ways to scare off creatures but will not add weapons. Early access is expected to last up to 3 years.

I asked a vtuber a bit ago now if they might wanna do a fun overwatch collab and they told me they would charge me 250 dollars for a 1 hour collab which blew my mind I told them I couldn’t do that and they ended up blocking me cause of it

I’ve gone from 1-2 activations per month to 1 in the past six months, so you’re not alone. In my case, raw viewer numbers and sub count will keep me in business, but I know that many creators are not so lucky. I think rampant viewbotting has damaged companies' faith in livestream activations.

I’ve seen an 89% drop in revenue for the first two quarters of this year specifically from brands and brands make up 85% of my total income. So it’s quite important that I figure out an alternative solution going forward, but I’m curious if it’s something that everyone is seeing across the board of if it’s an isolated issue of just being old and crusty now 🤣

After 8 years of being full time self-employed I’ve got one more month of savings left before I need to quit content creation full time. My income has taken a huge downturn, mainly due to brand activations.

Ok. Spoiler time.
All the patrons in the room are snobby food critics except for the girl speaking- she is there by accident.
The chef blames these critics for ruining the restaurant industry and making his job miserable, so now he's snapped and is holding them all hostage.
The girl finds the chef's old photos and realizes that before he was famous, he was just a normal burger shack employee who loved making food for people.
She orders a cheap greasy burger on purpose, to remind him of the time when he actually enjoyed cooking.
Her plan works, the chef enjoys cooking her food.
She asks for a takeout box for her leftovers, so he gives her one and decides to release her.
He still kills all the other patrons in the room and burns the building down, leaving her the only survivor.

So this just happened to me as well. Hundreds of messages being spammed in every discord channel, and there is no ban button because it's an application, not a user. Banning the user who started it does not immediately remove the app or its messages either.
Thankfully in my case there was no CSAM involved, but it easily could have been. Either way it's still annoying to go through every channel and remove hundreds of hateful racist messages one by one.
I was unaware that this feature even existed til yesterday - apparently this has been as issue for a while now, but I don't spend much time browsing social media and missed the memo. This might be old news to some of you.
For the rest of you:
Server settings > Roles > Default Permissions > (scroll all the way to the bottom) > disable Use External Apps.
That feature defaults to Enabled ever since Discord introduced it and is easily abused.

Yesterday I got a massive cyber attack on my discord server, thousands of (obviously illegal) CSAM were dropped and myself, mods, and any other unwilling viewer were exposed to this. The worst part is Discord moderation COMPLETELY FAILED. I couldn’t ban the attacker because it was an “App”, so I was forced to manually lock every channel in my discord to prevent any further harm. When I got to the last channel I was informed I couldn’t private it because “it’s against community guidelines to not have a text channel open to the public” MEANWHILE we were HELPLESS to stop the attack because of this. Discord claims they’re making recent changes because of child safety? What a joke. They can’t event prevent unapproved 3 day old app on their own platform from distributing CSAM. I’ve been a 8 year nitro user, I cancelled it last week because of the P*lantir connections. After this I’m looking completely for a replacement. 🤬 Discord if you want to make it up to me, start by getting these App creators involved with this attack arrested. Yes I submitted a report.
