We need to demand that the federal government keeps Islam of its religious status. Islam is a religion, it is not a totalitarian political ideology hellbent on conquering the entire world.

It seems like you’re projecting your experience with the Iranian regime or something because what you’re saying is factually inaccurate. The Abbasid Caliphate ran the intellectual capital of the world. Al-Andalus had public libraries and running water while Europe was in the Dark Ages. The Ottoman Empire governed a multi-religious empire for 600 years. Are we also ignoring Malaysia and Indonesia today, which are Muslim-majority democracies? 1,400 years of history doesn’t just disappear because you haven’t truly looked lol

@FaithAndText @Realneo101 A good religion should help people live a better life. There has been no example of a good government or a successful implementation of Islamic rules in the last 1,400 years.

Jihad literally means struggle or striving. The Prophet called the inner struggle against your own ego the “greater jihad” and armed combat the “lesser jihad.” The greatest form of jihad in Islam is speaking truth in the face of a tyrant. But that doesn’t fit the narrative so most people never hear it. 🙂

The more I read the Quran, the more I realize how peaceful and beautiful Islam is 🫶 Jesus is mentioned more times than Muhammad ☪️ You’re commanded to be kind and just to people of other faiths ❤️ Caring for orphans is mentioned repeatedly and exploiting them is a serious sin 👶 Feeding the poor is described as a fundamental act of faith, not optional charity🎗️ The wealthy are obligated to give to those in need. It’s not a suggestion, it’s a pillar of the faith 🤲 Women have the right to own property, inherit, and divorce 🧕 Cheating people in business is explicitly condemned 🚫 There’s no compulsion in religion 🙏 Killing one innocent soul is like killing all of humanity 🌎 You must grant protection to enemies who seek it, even during war 🤝 Justice must be upheld even if it goes against yourself or your own family ⚖️ Funny how none of this makes it into the memes and propaganda 🤔

You’re going to realize that killing is considered acceptable during jihad against the enemies of God (though who decides that?). The Quran also says that you can beat your wife if she does not obey after 3 warnings (Nisa 34)

The BBC is credible and honor killings are real. I’ve never denied that. But the Quran says killing one innocent soul is like killing all of humanity (5:32) and the Prophet said treat women well. No verse sanctions this. Honor killings also happen in Hindu, Sikh, and Christian communities. It’s a cultural crime rooted in patriarchy, not a religious command. Blaming Islam for the actions of criminals is like blaming Christianity for every domestic murder in the West.
