I understand that premise, but I disagree with it. Leverage implies that one party has an inherent advantage over another. The 49ers net no benefit. They possess a depreciating asset that no one wants. Including themselves. I equate it to a Yard Sale. The 49ers have "excess junk" they want to remove, and will sell at pennies for the dollar. If not entirely free. There's no power in that. Logistically your argument is correct. Logically it holds little weight.
