@McdonaldLa83347 @MavsMuse The Hornets were one of the worst teams in the league before Knueppel got there. Now people look at them like they are stars. Funny how that works.

@MavsMuse Cooper was outplayed the first 60+ so it is Kon by your own standard.
English

@Yeeeerrrrobi Even if you’re box score watching, which you are, is 10/16 and 50% from 3 somehow bad? Wemby went 9/16. Is he not an all star?
English

Look at this fucking shit man. If Flagg wants to be an all star, let alone All NBA, maybe if he’s LUCKY MVP caliber player one day, he can’t take SIXTEEN shots in a single half no matter how well he’s scoring and expect to lead a winning team lol #GreedyMuch #passtheballfatty

@ClutchPoints @dpshow Ball knower. It isn't like Flagg's numbers are head and shoulders above Kon's. ROTY should be Kon's by a lot, but voters are lazy so it'll probably goes to Flagg.
English

“I've never seen a rookie have an impact on a team as much as [Kon Knueppel] has had… If you just go off numbers, it’s Cooper Flagg. If you go off impact, it’s Kon.”

@DavidJo08522081 @HornetsReddit @BillSimmons He would be getting doubled and guarded by the best. He’d be putting up like 6ppg
English

@HornetsReddit @BillSimmons Imagine if Kon had the ball in his hands and could just shoot 20 times with no regard to winning.
English

🎙️ @BillSimmons: "I can't believe (Cooper) Flagg is favored vs Kon (Knueppel), who's the second-best guy on a playoff team that's gonna win 46-47 games. He's gonna lead the league in threes. He's the key to that team in a lot of ways because he's the only one that really moves. The gravity that he brings when he moves around and how defenses react to him, you have to have it for how they play. And if you don't, it's just a bunch of guys standing around watching LaMelo dribble."
"I love Flagg. He's fantastic, but he's doing this on a tanking lottery team that's gonna win 25 games, and now is trying to build their team around him trying to win the award. And it's like, 'If you want to vote for that, fine,' but you have this situation of a rookie having a historic season who's really important to a team that's been one of the best teams in the league for 45 games now. I don't understand how that's not Rookie of the Year, because Flagg scores two more points a game? It's just bizarre. For me, it's a no-brainer. I would take Kon." 💯
Also, some very good points by @LegsESPN on this episode.

@invinciblecard1 @NoLimitsNBA @NBA__Courtside 60% of his threes are considered wide open. 90+% of his shots are assisted, and he hasn’t been doubled or covered by a team’s best defender all year. Get a grip.
English

@NoLimitsNBA @NBA__Courtside Just shooting 3's, and somehow averaging just about the same point per minute in the floor as Cooper Flagg does, with much less shots.
Not realizing how valuable 43% is from 3, and also leading the NBA in 3's is like not realizing how Stephen Curry broke the game....

Jason Kidd says Kon Knueppel is a piece of the puzzle for the Hornets but Cooper Flagg is the puzzle:
“I truly believe that he deserves rookie of the year that’s not throwing shade at Knueppel, he’s had a great year too. But just the things, the stats, the names he is attached to. It’s a little bit bigger than just shooting threes.”

@hornets_enjoyer @beerswithboggs @CrownClubCLT So you’re saying in a redraft you would take Kon number 1?
English

@beerswithboggs @CrownClubCLT Kon is having one of the best 3 point shooting seasons EVER, and he’s not more valuable than Coop? In 2026? Leading the league in 3s at 43% is steph level. Klay used to be one of the most valuable players in the NBA because it’s so high impact at no cost. Kon is positive on D too
English

Notice how everyone is Dallas is begging for you to believe Flagg deserves this and Charlotte is just letting the play speak for itself. There’s no choreographed PR campaign here because we don’t have to.

@SamQuinnCBS @mxwzy You get it. His contribution has changed the trajectory of the franchise. Nobody is arguing Kon should get ROTY just because his team is good
English

I wanna chime in on the whole “why should we care if Kon Knueppel is on a good team for Rookie of the Year if we never factor winning into that award?” fracas.
The top rookies are usually high picks and winning teams rarely have high picks, so it’s unfair to expect them to win.
But the difference with Kon is that he didn’t just get lucky and find himself drafted by an awesome team. He got drafted by a team that sucked last year and we assumed would suck this year. He’s not just a part of winning. The winning is happening largely because he is there.
He’s not the only reason obviously, but I think we need to be able to draw a distinction between giving a rookie credit for landing on the perfect team and giving a rookie credit for making the team that drafts him great. Kon is genuinely central to what makes a winning team win. I’m not saying Flagg couldn’t do that. I’m saying on the rare occasion in which any rookie does that I think it’s worth crediting. This is rare and it’s special.
