My genuine unironic advice: study screenwriting/scriptwriting specifically. It will teach you to condense and concentrate your writing in the most efficient way possible, which can help you hone your writing and kill your darlings when you return to traditional narrative prose

And before someone says I need a beta ? 10k is *after* my beta forces me to cut whole pages. Woe.

People who write one shots of 1,000 to 5, O00 words, teach me your ways. I'm serious, I am amazed by that ability. It's so easy to get bogged down when you're consistently hitting 10,000. I just want to write fic, not a novella!
