I spent tens of thousands of dollars paying photographers, studios, models, makeup artists, costume designers, prop makers, and assistants to create our Stock assets. I loved this work and invested everything I could give. Adobe used their ToS to scrape my IP, and gave it to grifters who then flooded the same market with GenAI. They used my own IP to compete against me. Keep that in mind right now.

The problem is that. - Generative model builders can't guarantee what the model can/can't regenerate very close to the original. - The nature of generated content is shallow in depth ie just remixing original content. Both require attribution, consent or permission.

The anger over the terms of service is the flashpoint but not the cause of their customer's anger. The anger comes from generative AI and how it is trained on creative’s work without their permission. When Firefly rolled out last year Adobe claimed they had the rights to use the images they trained on. How did Adobe get that permission? They changed their terms of service. The creators who signed up to sell their work on Adobe’s stock image service had no idea that their work would ever be used in AI and have watched a portion of their income (or their entire livelihood) dry up over the past year. Many of us rely on Adobe Creative Cloud to create everything we make. The files stored on Adobe’s cloud are made by the best working photographers, illustrators, designers and videographers in the world. This data is a gold mine to any corporation making generative AI. The greatest untapped natural resource of creative work in the world. The backlash to the terms of service is really the customer’s way of saying: Hell no you can’t train on my personal data! Adobe posted yesterday that they are revising their terms of service and those would roll out later this month. This won’t change anything because people are mad about how Adobe has taken advantage of their customers in the past and their AI business model is totally incentivized to do it again. As long as Adobe’s plan for growth is laser focused on AI they are on a collision course with their own customers.

The modus operandi of Big Tech these days is to solve a 'problem' by creating a dozen more and going, "Eh, society will figure it out," while they skirt regulations and rake in cash. And if you let them, they'll even sell you the solution to the problems they create.

We all deserve to control how to voice and image is used. The No AI FRAUD Act would protect us all from AI generated deep fakes and clones made without consent.

Protip -- don't use synthetic "art" to illustrate your articles and ESPECIALLY don't do so if you're prompting it to depict a scene from a culture (or like here cultures!) you don't belong to. This is some epic self-beclowning. (h/t @jeffadoctor who found this atrocity.)

Every1 Pushing GenAi is hoping YOU will buy in to up their evals. After that you are disposable. When was the last time you heard that GenAi was going to INCREASE jobs and allow more people to survive and thrive? LinkedIn is now insufferable, ppl there need to wake up.
