@CStevesVO It’s a topic worth discussing! In the end it absolutely depends on who you work with - some studios/directors could care less about fan content, while some absolutely do. Mostly has to do with how copyright & fair use are *completely* different in Japan vs the west.

You should 100% BE CAUTIOUS when it comes to public fan content; it’s *absolutely* still a grey area. -however, for the VAs who “make it” then talk down to other VAs for doing fan content, it’s no secret that the MAJORITY of modern VAs got their start in fandubs/abridged series.

YO VOICE ACTORS!!! Especially my newer VAs. Whoever is telling you fandubs will ruin your career is feeding you a load of bullhockey. Jim Cummings literally hosts famous VAs on his podcast to dub famous scenes as different characters. Plus, fandubs are the reason SO many VAs got their big break. If you want to use a pseudonym for a fandub, that's fine. I'm just saying you've most likely been duped.

-anyway lmao before a war starts, both the Kikuchi & Faulconer scores have their strengths and weaknesses imo One is super adventurous while occasionally not being serious enough, and the other is much darker/grittier while occasionally bring too overbearing

@ClockedOrange Definitely agree! And for reference the clip I posted is from Kai. IMO, The OG Funi dub is so poorly translated in spots that when I rewatch DBZ every other year or so, I always stick with Kai despite the music being a bit all over the place.

@InvertedToaster Kinda off topic, when people say they like Kai’s ost, do they mean the original Kikuchi from DBZ like the one here, or the plagiarized Yamamoto music that was removed and replaced with Kikuchi? This is one of the downsides of Kai, Kikuchi scores were better inserted in DBZ
