This is a shut down event. Biggest snow in 5 years for NYC region. 1st blizzard warning for NYC in 8 years. Won't be too bad Sunday until after dark. Snow drifts of 2 to 3 feet likely Monday. Multi day recovery for airlines.

@Faraazahmed It shouldn't be due to weather. The only way it's impacted is if the airlines need that plane and crew in a certain spot to recover from the storm. I'd say 80/20 you're good

NYC update: Don't sleep on the Sunday-Monday snow but so far the trend is more miss than hit for NYC. Storm has potential to bring over a foot but the track isn't one that would bury NYC...so far. Good confidence expected Friday afternoon.

@Faraazahmed It’s borderline I think we’re gonna start to see accumulations, but it still might be very wet and manageable for the airports. If you could leave sooner it’s probably better.

WEEKEND STORM SIGNAL STILL THERE… AI + OPERATIONAL MODELS KEEP THE CORE JUST SOUTH OF NYC SUNDAY The overall idea remains unchanged for Sunday’s coastal storm. Phasing and timing are similar, keeping impacts focused on Sunday, with snow/rain arriving by late morning into early afternoon across the region. Key players are coming into better view, but a few pieces still need time to cook—especially the “bowling ball” of energy off the West Coast. That feature will dictate the ridge/trough setup downstream and ultimately decide whether the phase happens offshore or closer to the coast, which would support a more sizable storm.
