I warmly congratulate the US & Iran for having reached a peace deal that provides for an immediate & permanent ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a framework for further negotiations. This represents a critical step towards the peaceful settlement of the conflict. My deep appreciation goes to Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and other regional countries, for the constructive role played in supporting the negotiations that led to the peace deal.

🇦🇪🇮🇷 UAE, Iran Security Officials Hold First Face-to-Face Talks Since War Senior national security officials from the United Arab Emirates and Iran met in person this week for the first time since the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran began in late February, Bloomberg reported, in what the outlet called “a stark turnaround” for the two sides. The unannounced talks were a direct effort to de-escalate after months of regional confrontation. Bloomberg said Abu Dhabi initiated the outreach after concluding that Iran’s government is unlikely to be removed despite sustained U.S.-led pressure, and is seeking to protect economic priorities including expanded oil production and billions in AI data-center investment. Iran also values the relationship: the UAE was one of its largest trading partners before the war and a major channel for sanctioned Iranian oil. The reported thaw follows weeks of retaliatory Iranian drone and missile bombardment of the UAE during the war, as Abu Dhabi hosted the US military as it launched strikes on Iran, and later itself carried out coordinated attacks on Iran.
