The Russini - Vrabel situation has layers of conflicts of interests: Vrabel's conflict was the fact that she was one of 50 COTY voters Russini's conflict is the fact that he is her journalistic source ESPN's conflict is its 10% owned by the NFL and Russini is their former employee Specific journalists (Zolak, etc.) conflicts = friendship with Russini and Vrabel The NFL's conflict is that this situation can harm its credibility

I took a technical drawing class in highschool. The teacher was retiring that year and gave all the students a lot of freedom as long as the work got done. There was one kid that was a talented artist, he would draw sports cars at a really high level. He never had to do any of the normal assignments. The teacher recognized his talent and let him draw whatever he wanted because doing the normal work would be way below his skill level. Anyway, that teacher was the last of a dying breed. I felt like I caught a glimpse of a world that was going away forever. I think I got an A.

World, Sam Altman's digital identity project, just unveiled World ID 4.0, what the company calls "full-stack proof of human" infrastructure. The partner list: Tinder, Zoom, DocuSign, Shopify, Okta, AWS, and Vercel. Altman opened by saying we're heading to a world where AI generates more content than humans. Pantera Capital says we've already crossed that threshold. World's answer is an iris-scanning device called the Orb that creates a unique cryptographic ID proving you're a real person. 18 million people across 160 countries have already verified. Tinder is rolling out "verified human" badges in the U.S. after a Japan pilot. Zoom built a feature called "Deep Face" that verifies the person on a video call isn't a deepfake. DocuSign is adding proof-of-human checks to digital signatures. Shopify is enabling verified-human commerce. The most significant announcement is AgentKit, infrastructure that lets AI agents carry cryptographic proof they're acting on behalf of a verified human. Okta built an agent delegation system on top of it. The problem World is solving is real. The question is whether a centralized iris-scanning identity layer controlled by the same person whose company helped create the problem is the right answer. Altman is the CEO of OpenAI. He built the flood. Now he's selling the ark.

The beautiful thing about the playoffs is it challenges how you think about the game. You can find yourself reevaluating everything. Every ounce of me thinks Jalen Brunson is a better basketball player than CJ McCollum. It all makes sense. He’s more productive in the regular season. He’s a perennial All-Star. He’s proved it in the playoffs. He’s one of leading clutch players in the league. There are several nuances, the list goes on. But when I watch this Knicks-Hawks series. I frequently sit there ask myself what ACTUALLY makes him better? I know the reasons why, but my brain is challenging what the ACTUAL gap is between them player for player when everything is on the line. No narratives, no agendas, just objective analysis. You start thinking about attributes, and situation, and responsibility, and team makeup, and numbers and data and everything humanly possible. I found myself venturing down similar shades of thinking a decade ago when Kyrie Irving was matched up with Steph Curry in the NBA Finals. Ultimately you may land on the same conclusion anyway, but the playoffs are so special because it challenges everything you think you know and believe about the game.

The Jets had a good Round 1: - Drafted three players who should help right away. - A team went viral for calling a player to say they were picking him only for another team to jump ahead and pick that player while he was still on the phone with the original team — and it wasn't the Jets. - A team's head coach conducted a press conference where he sounded angry that his team drafted a player and now many people are making fun of them — and it also wasn't the Jets.
