+1 I was one of the first people writing a public CSI driver for Kubernetes. But it's been almost 10 years. I knew it in and out, but forgot a detail. Just spun up an agent, and asked "which sidecar formats the filesystem when a new PVC is provisioned". Honestly saved me hours of google search and I kept going asking questions. Best thing ever invented for people like us.

Same here. I don't get it, I feel like I'm in a different world. I might not know the arguments of some stdlib function anymore, but I don't think my skills as a software engineer have gone down. If anything, they've gone up.
David Crawshaw@davidcrawshaw

I understand the concern of skills atrophying when using agents. But so far I am not seeing it. Instead I have learned all sorts of dark secrets of linux networking I somehow didn’t learn before agents building a networking product.

I'm using Composer 2.5 on daily basis, but it's really oversharing too much. I wonder if it has some sorts of persona I can tweak. I ask a very simple question, and it replies with hundreds of lines and paragraphs. Chill, buddy. I want a more chill Composer 2.5. @cursor_ai what are my options?

@kevclarkco Thank you. I want to make sure I cover everything. But with holidays, kids at home, my professional work, lately I don't have much spare time. But I'm getting there :)

I'm so close on my latest blog post. It'll be long with almost ~4000 words. There will be lots of great photos as well, comparisons to my other split keyboards, mainly the Glove80, Kinesis 2, and of course Elora Halcyon. I'll be also sharing a few videos this time. Stay tuned

@Ekaeoq This is on my list. I like the 222 a lot. But it’s almost 3x the price and VC wants you to buy other pieces, which is a policy i dislike 👎

People say that this watch will save JLC, it's gonna be what Nautilus is to Patek or what Royal Oak did for AP, and so on... But this watch is so much more than that, compared to a Nautilus or a Royal oak, the proportions on that JLC are just done better. 222 Vacheron is what comes to mind when I look at this watch, not necessarily as similar in design as it is similar in the vibe and the presentation to that of the 222: - nice smaller size - thin - not bulky/overpowering - very proportional - classy I really like the new Chronometer

@fatih Any comparison in life will make you obsessed. Your city, life, salary, the tech you use... It's all a trap.

Best thing you can do in your life is never get into a comparison trap. Nothing good comes out of it. It’s literally a curse. Always strive to do the best, follow your instincts and be a thoughtful human being. Rest will follow.

The vibes in SF feel pretty frenetic right now. The divide in outcomes is the worst I've ever seen. Over the last 5yrs, a group of ~10k people - employees at Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Nvidia, Meta TBD, founders - have hit retirement wealth of well above $20M (back of the envelope AI estimation). Everyone outside that group feels like they can work their well-paying (but <$500k) job for their whole life and never get there. Worse yet, layoffs are in full swing. Many software engineers feel like their life's skill is no longer useful. The day to day role of most jobs has changed overnight with AI. As a result, 1. The corporate ladder looks like the wrong building to climb. Everyone's trying to align with a new set of career "paths": should I be a founder? Is it too late to join Anthropic / OpenAI? should I get into AI? what company stock will 10x next? People are demanding higher salaries and switching jobs more and more. 2. There’s a deep malaise about work (and its future). Why even work at all for “peanuts”? Will my job even exist in a few years? Many feel helpless. You hear the “permanent underclass” conversation a lot, esp from young people. It's hard to focus on doing good work when you think "man, if I joined Anthropic 2yrs ago, I could retire" 3. The mid to late middle managers feel paralyzed. Many have families and don't feel like they have the energy or network to just "start a company". They don't particularly have any AI skills. They see the writing on the wall: middle management is being hollowed out in many companies. 4. The rich aren’t particularly happy either. No one is shedding tears for them (and rightfully so). But those who have "made it" experience a profound lack of purpose too. Some have gone from <$150k to >$50M in a few years with no ramp. It flips your life plans upside down. For some, comparison is the thief of joy. For some, they escape to NYC to "live life". For others still, they start companies "just cuz", often to win status points. They never imagined that by age 30, they'd be set. I once asked a post-economic founder friend why they didn't just sell the co and they said "and do what? right now, everyone wants to talk to me. if i sell, I will only have money." I understand that many reading this scoff at the champagne problems of the valley. Society is warped in this tech bubble. What is often well-off anywhere else in the world is bang average here. Unlike many other places, tenure, intelligence and hard work can be loosely correlated with outcomes in the Bay. Living through a societally transformative gold rush in that environment can be paralyzing. "Am I in the right place? Should I move? Is there time still left? Am I gonna make it?" It psychologically torments many who have moved here in search of "success". Ironically, a frequent side effect of this torment is to spin up the very products making everyone rich in hopes that you too can vibecode your path to economic enlightenment.

Got the new Studio Display XDR. My MacBook holder still fits perfectly, and I think it’s the best way to store your MacBook in clamshell mode.

It's great to know there are just nice people you can talk to. You could say "right Fatih, everyone is nice". It's not like that. I'm meaning nice nice. You know when you talk someone that is nice nice.

Recently, on my flight to SF and there, I've finished Animal Well. It's a superb game, and reminded me of the old Zelda or 80's games where you kinda stuck in dark, and have to just explore every corner. There is not much a story, and initially the graphics and the gameplay was very frustrating, but with time it got better. What I like the most was the game mechanics. It was totally unique. I can't say I find everything myself, but at some point I had to look up certain things. Also the game, even if you finish it, actually never finishes. There are several endings you can chase if you want. I stopped after the first real ending. Highly recommended if you're into games like this. I know it's not for everyone, but you'll love it if you're into games.

@ulusalomer @ilkerulusoy Model degistirmenin zarari yok ki ama. Tamamen yaptigin is ile dikey (orthogonal).
