Why "Diamonds in the Rough" is not a Good Investment Strategy in Venture: " Don't ever do diamonds in the rough, only do diamonds. The general pattern is 99 out of 100 times, if it's got merit, to be investible for venture, there are a lot of really smart and hungry VCs out there and they're working extremely hard to sniff these things out. Every story I hear from friends in Germany who built a house is an absolute horror story of delays, bureaucracy, dictator style Bauamt and endless failures and errors during construction. As my family and I and entertaining the idea of building a house for the first time, I need to hear from people who built in the last 5 years (and hopefully had a good experience).
