@AppleSupport The Photos app new layout is a major cognitive accessibility challenge. Even if it can be customized, the interface is cluttered, not intuitive and requires a lot of scrolling. This makes the search experience difficult and increases cognitive load.

@uOttawa @Fatou_Bah1 @OpenCanada @uOttawaFSS I sincerely apologize. My team and I have not been consulted for the choice of the image and we are sad an offensive image was chosen to illustrate an article that values the voices of 2 individuals who are part of your community. @KaseyNBailes @AutisticCallum_ Also c here. My brain questions everyone and everything so I’ve never been “a” and for “b” I’m only reactive if I know I have the evidence to back it up. I get quite reactive and frustrated when I know I’m right and need to accept that some are willfully stubborn

@AutisticCallum_ I used to be a) ....morphed into b) ...& now I've landed on c) I *know* I'm right from both evidence & lived experience but also realize people are cads that won't change from their fixed opinions even when presented as such, so I just save my breath & unfollow/delete them now 🤷‍♀️

Many autistic people’s first response to being told they’re wrong is to: a) 100% believe the other person is right, because they’re so used to being told they’re wrong that they don’t question it; or b) argue the point, as their righteousness instantly jumps into defence mode.

@DrAdamJones Omg🙆🏾‍♀️! It’s mind blowing how people are still this misinformed on Autism in the day and age of Google and Social Media. It’s not that hard to do a quick search before sending an email or writing an article.

Hello to the large charity who sent me an email earlier today referring to "Asperger's" as a "superpower"
Fatou Bah (She/her)@Fatou_Bah1

vice.com/en/article/pka… via @vicenews Asperger’s is an outdated term for #Autism. It was named after a Nazi doctor. It’s also not an official diagnosis. Please make the correction and employ inclusive language in the future. This is not acceptable from a major news publication.

@EdKollin @VICENews You’re no morally better than those parents if you’re not going to listen to autistic people and speak over them.

@EdKollin @VICENews Lol as an autistic person yes I am worried about the language used. Non inclusive language contributes to further marginalizing us. Maybe you should prioritize listening to #ActuallyAutistic people and worry about your own performative allyship.

In essence, in the majority of situations, the responsibility of overcoming The Double Empathy Problem rests solely on your shoulders, you know this to be the case, and to have a reasonable conversation you must play chess with yourself every time you plan to say something.

To bridge the gap, you must plan what you want to say, accurately preempt what they’ll read into that, and then tweak it until you have enough to help them read the right things into what you say, but not so much that they read even more into what you say and become offended.
