Last night, Israeli forces fatally shot Laila Mohammad Ayman Khatib, 2, while she ate dinner with her family in their home near Jenin. Soldiers shot four bullets through the living room window, one of which struck Laila in the back of the head.

39 children in shipwrecks this week alone

105 people involved in three shipwreck this week, 39 of them small children. Crossings towards the Greek Aegean islands have been slightly reduced, due to seasonal reduction and bad weather. Those crossing, despite bad weather, face a much higher risk of drowning. So far this week there have been three cases close to the Turkish coast, where overloaded rubber boats have sent out distress signals, miraculously nobody has drowned. On Monday night Aegean Boat Report was contacted by a group of 26 people, 8 of them children, outside Seferihisar, the boat was deflating and many had already fallen into the sea. On Thursday, 36 people, 20 of them small children, sent out a distress call, after their boat started taking in water outside Didim. The boat was heavily overloaded, the back of the boat was already under water. Friday 43 people in a rubber boats ended up in distress off the coast of Urla, the boat was taking in water and in danger of sinking, bad weather conditions and high waves in the area. If people in these boats hadn’t been able to call for help, if nobody was there to answer their call for help, many would have ended up in a wet grave this week.
