As host, MakSPH is bringing together close to 200 participants, including researchers, policymakers, clinicians, and public health practitioners, from across Africa and globally. Grounding the day's theme in professional excellence, Prof. Segane Musisi (Chair, TAC) led a session on stewardship, standards, and the future of Implementation science capacity. The focus was on ensuring that as people building systems, we maintain the highest global standards to ensure sustainable healthcare growth in Uganda.

A milestone in health innovation. -Abraham Muhwezi, -Alain Favina -Christine Karungi, and Dan Lutasingwa successfully completed the fellowship under the BImS-NCDs project. As people who build systems, these specialists are now prepared to bridge the gap between medical evidence and community impact.

Our paper was just published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal. People with cannabis-induced psychosis are at a 241.6-fold higher risk of developing schizophrenia. Cannabis from the 2000s is not the same as today.

The issues you study become your life; you lose focus in social dialogues, your mind is elsewhere because the work never truly ends. You may even develop the illusion that everything else is meaningless. #Research #Science #Learning #Academia #MentalHealth

This year’s literature laureate Jon Fosse writes novels heavily pared down to a style that has come to be known as ‘Fosse minimalism’. This can be seen in his second novel ‘Stengd gitar’ (1985), when Fosse presents us with a harrowing variation on one of his major themes, the critical moment of irresolution. A young mother leaves her flat to throw rubbish down the chute but locks herself out, with her baby still inside. Needing to go and seek help, she is unable to do so since she cannot abandon her child. While she finds herself, in Kafkaesque terms, ‘before the law’, the difference is clear: Fosse presents everyday situations that are instantly recognisable from our own lives. #NobelPrize
