@pappas08 @bazz_27 I said he deserves an extended opportunity, just that he’s not that different from the mids we have. I agree Edward’s should get an opportunity too, he potentially has the better spread we need. Not sure Ryan shown enough yet, but Nank should be ahead of Jones.

@FcMilera @bazz_27 No he hasn’t, when he’s come in nicks has played him in the forward line and then gets dropped. What do you expect him to do when he’s not playing in his natural position. Time Edwards debuts as well and would say no to Oscar Ryan debuting as well for Chayce jones

Lots of people want to solely blame Nicks for last night but some of our players are just not up to it so far this year

@bazz_27 …from the literal basement. We still have obv list weaknesses, but hard to argue we haven’t been heading in right direction, and calling for him to be sacked now is kind of crazy. The squad is clearly not fit currently, but have good run of fixtures into bye to get things right

@bazz_27 Reality is most who aggressively go at nicks have been saying it for years, they literally call for him to be sacked after every loss. I don’t always agree with selections or tactics at times but it’s not always as simple as it seems. He’s done a good job at developing a squad….

@bazz_27 @pappas08 I don’t think Dowling has ever been given an extended go at it, and I think deserves it. Hasn’t looked completely out of place when he has played, albeit not really what we need. Edward’s should def get the opportunity and I don’t understand how jones gets a game over Nank

@Crickettrag1965 @bazz_27 IMO he’s just a reflection of all, just seems to lack usual energy/sharpness. Given it’s his main weapon it shows more. We don’t really have other options. Another quick small pressure fwd might be good option in the msd. We have too many young tall fwds on the list who wont play

@bazz_27 Agreed 👍 But that why I suggested a tagging role for him … gets him back to the ball and helps his game .. and becomes an asset rather than a liability!

Morning All, AFC CROWS 🟦🟥🟨 Well that was a bloody hard re-watch ! Looked worse on teli than it did live 🤢 Another Crows game another close loss .. bad luck or bad management ? The theory going around is that the loss was due to the selection of certain individuals, and injuries….and a fair call, some merit, that would be … However when you delve deeper…. why then with 11.09 min left in the third quarter WITH EXACTLY THE SAME PLAYERS ( when these players realised the game was almost gone) .. suddenly did we see a different team ? Maybe because they suddenly went quicker with their ball movement and changed their system to try and WIN THE GAME RATHER THAN NOT LOSE IT !!!… the players went on the attack … and should have done so from first bounce ! 😡 The Crows once again left themselves too much to do too late. And in doing so, ran out of petrol tickets AGAIN !! That maybe they changed their system and with the quicker ball movement and their ball transition from d50 to f50, ( this improved dramatically, even with some spuds out there !) This is on the COACHES to resolve, so that system is implemented from the first bounce …SURELY ??? SOME MORE COACHES CONCERNS … This loss is clearly on the Crows poor start and early system … yet again !!!! Can’t win against the better sides playing half a game ! Something we all know but the Coaches have yet to resolve ?? We’ve done it every game so far this season ( got away with it against the Pies - they’re not that good, that’s why ) Crows showed little appetite for the contest early … too many passengers .. 4 players didn’t touch the ball in the first quarter ! …a further 7 players had 2 or less possessions.. pathetic ! ( CROWS 11 PASSENGERS ) Fremantle only had one with no possessions C Scerri ( SSP signing ) .. and only a further 3 with 2 possessions or less .. ( FREO 4 PASSENGERS ) Telling difference ! COACHES CONCERN ? Peatling’s centre square workrate in the 3 rd a case in point, he turned the game on its head for the Crows. Why didn’t this come earlier? COACHES CONCERN ? Brayshaw and Serong had big last quarters .. 10/11 possessions respectively…. they were allowed to run unchecked that whole last quarter, match winners for them .. why didn’t Keays ( who was struggling full 🛑 stop all night ) be redirected to tag one or the other, and turn his poor night into a positive for the team ? COACHES CONCERN ? And too many more to mention here ! Crows hierarchy erred in extending some contracts when there was no need… ROB’s is one, Nicks is another .. surely no further blind extensions for anyone unless results justify the need … otherwise questions have to come of those responsible for such decisions … SURELY ! It’s only round 4,…..so there’s time to still address systems and personnel, however there’s little room for failure from here or the season will be a waste … tough calls coming … It’s up to the Coaches to make them COACHES CONCERNS 🤨 🟦🟥🟨

@Crickettrag1965 …we need to get the squad fit and sharp. Obviously the injuries, but so many also seem flat and a long way from their best. We have obv list targets, but I think all is not lost. Get ahead of 50% into the bye then attack the run into the finals with a fit and firing squad.

@Crickettrag1965 … do a mini pre season and run in the 2’s. We need more run and attack from defence. We have limited options but Nank should play. We were too top heavy, the two rucks plus Maley when we lack run, mcandrew a positive and Maley a good fwd/ruck option. Probably most importantly…

@FootyTragic2711 @Crickettrag1965 All players just seem to be playing a bit flat. Peatling at least showed good spark. He got us back in the game then was only on the field 55% of that last qtr. If we can get >50 % into bye then get everyone fit and firing and attack the back half we might be a chance.

@FcMilera @Crickettrag1965 Looking like Peds will miss with concussion, and Keays is lucky at the moment that we are short on numbers. He’s dropped off significantly this season

@Crickettrag1965 It’s hard to attack when you don’t have the ball. Our clearance work poor, fumble and flat. Amazing we get so close when we play so poorly. Personally think it’s a plus if we can get things right and get our better players fit and firing. Thankfully a good draw into the bye.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ??? Is it true that the Crows attack only when they have no other choice and the game is virtually gone ? Because if it is … wake me when the season’s over 😜

@Crickettrag1965 @GGhostwhowalks I think injuries a big part of it. So many of our better players are either out or don’t look anywhere near peak fitness. Let’s hope we get enough early wins then get everyone fit and firing for the run into the finals. We do lack another good runner tho in both def and mid.

@Crickettrag1965 Seems a bit top heavy to me, given neither ruck can really play anywhere else. I thought Maley was pretty good in tough conditions, I’d be playing him again and giving fog an opportunity to get some form in the sanfl and play another runner, albeit we don’t have a lot of options.

@JCordy37 @Hendoj4 … significantly less interest and or significantly more barriers to get there. When you have a successful formula you stick with it, and SA has invested significantly to achieve that.

@JCordy37 @Hendoj4 So you want to have it in Melbourne 🤣 that’s every other weekend! Adelaide clearly has good grounds but more importantly it has the right combination of local interest and convenience for people to get there I.e. you can drive from Melbourne. Every where else there is either ….

It works best in Adelaide for obvious reasons but spare me with the idea no other city in this country has one good stadium and two barely feasible suburban grounds.

@chrismills182 …. Positional weakness, clearly in the midfield, and from hb imo, and we’ve got a lot players clearly not yet at their best, but I’d back them to get it right and he’s earnt the opportunity for at least this season an nxt to see if he can get there.

@chrismills182 You don’t think u might be a little biased in your assessment Chris? You’ve spun the same narrative for 5 years as we’ve progressed from bottom of the ladder to minor premiers. The next 2-3 yr is the critical period to see if we can get to the very top. We still have some ….

First crack explains why I think Nicks is out of his depth. Got out coached and out game planned. The very same reason we didn’t win a qtr in finals. Good watch and more of the same from the swimming cap. Only 8 points but it’s the system that’s a worry.
