10th Annual Break-a-Fast dinner at Parliament Hill Canada. In a world growing louder with division, Break-a-Fast night on Parliament Hill proved something powerful: Unity is possible, and Canadians are choosing it. linkedin.com/posts/faheem-a… #cdnpoli #onpoli

As co-chair of the Parliamentary Friends Association of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada @PFA_Ahmadiyya, I was happy to welcome members of the community, MPs, Senators and other leaders at the annual Break-a-Fast (Iftar) dinner on Parliament Hill. Thank you to Minister @MarcMillerVM for representing the Government of Canada. Ramadan is the sacred month of fasting, prayers and charity, marked by compassion and empathy for those less fortunate. Thank you to Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Canada @ahmadiyyacanada for your community’s volunteer and charitable work in #Etobicoke and across #Canada. Ramadan Mubarak! Faheem Affan @FdAffan

I was pleased to join my colleagues and attend the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s annual Break-A-Fast in Ottawa last night, bringing together community leaders, public servants, and Canadians from all faith backgrounds. Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the evening reflected the spirit of Ramadan — a time of reflection, compassion, and service to others. The theme of interfaith support and dialogue is more important than ever. Canada is stronger when communities come together in this spirit of unity and mutual respect. Events like this highlight the important role the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community plays in civic life and in advancing the values of peace, inclusion, and religious freedom across our country.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada is deeply saddened by the horrific shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences are with the families, friends, and all those who have lost loved ones or whose lives have been forever changed by this senseless act of violence. We also express our sincere gratitude to the first responders and emergency personnel for their courage, sacrifice, and selflessness in protecting others under the most difficult circumstances. In moments of tragedy, Canada’s strength lies in our unity, compassion, and shared humanity. May we continue to come together to support one another, reject violence in all its forms, and uphold peace, empathy, and understanding. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada prays for healing, comfort, and resilience for the affected community.

STATEMENT Following the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, earlier today, the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated: “On behalf of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community worldwide, I condemn in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack targeting innocent members of the Jewish community in Australia. Nothing can ever justify such acts of violence. Islam upholds the absolute sanctity of human life and declares that the killing of one innocent person is tantamount to killing all of humanity. Acts of terrorism and hatred are therefore completely contrary to the true teachings of Islam. As Muslims, our faith requires us to show love, compassion and grace to the people of all faiths and beliefs. Our heartfelt sympathies are with all those affected by this tragedy, and we pray for the swift recovery of those who have been injured.”

It was a pleasure meeting @_MarkSutcliffe, mayor of #Ottawa, yesterday. Thank you for welcoming us to your office. We look forward to working with you to help eliminate all forms of hate from our beautiful city and our wonderful country. #LoveforAllHatredforNone #Respect
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada@ahmadiyyacanada

The National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, Mr Lal Khan Malik met with the Mayor of Ottawa @_MarkSutcliffe for a constructive discussion focused on community partnership, inclusivity, and strengthening social cohesion. During the meeting, they reviewed the contributions of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Ottawa and across Canada, including humanitarian initiatives through Humanity First, youth programs, interfaith engagement, and ongoing efforts to promote service, unity, and civic responsibility. The conversation also addressed the importance of countering discriminatory narratives, supporting mutual respect among all residents, and continuing collaborative work that benefits the social and cultural fabric of Ottawa. The National President extended an invitation for the Mayor to visit local mosques and to attend Canada’s largest Muslim gathering, held annually in the Greater Toronto Area, to further deepen understanding and dialogue. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada looks forward to continued positive engagement with the City of Ottawa in promoting harmony, respect, and community service for all.

Judaism, Christianity & Islam share love, respect & common values. The actions of a few misguided individuals do not define entire faiths. We don’t call antisemitism “Judaism-phobia.” We don’t call hate against Christians “Christianity-phobia.” So why Islamophobia?

Words matter. Using the wrong ones fuels misunderstanding. #Islamophobia is the wrong word. Islam = Peace. Phobia = Fear. How can peace be feared? The right term is "Anti-Muslim Hate". Words shape perceptions. Let’s stop using language that suggests Islam itself is dangerous.
