Everyone knew ncaa tournament expansion to 76 was inevitable. Almost nobody wants it. Those trying to argue its merits are gaslighting you. I’ve written it many times — it’s a lousy development that contributes to the erosion of what makes college sports great.

Sources: The NCAA has initiated the final steps to expand the men’s and women’s NCAA basketball tournaments to 76 teams. The expansion is on track to be formalized in the upcoming weeks, with mid-May as the target. The 76-team tournaments begin next year. espn.com/mens-college-b…

The market is getting thin for bigs. Bonke has some upside but I think it takes two years to get there. He started playing hoops at 16 and looks it at times. Moves well laterally and has some pop vertically but he’s a project. Personally don’t see him as a clear cut P5 starter.

Charlotte transfer Anton Bonke is visiting Kansas today and Michigan State on Friday, his agent Scott Nichols of @Rize_Management told ESPN. Will then visit Cincinnati, NC State, South Carolina and Clemson. Bonke is also considering Arkansas, TCU, USC and Gonzaga. 7-2 center averaged 10.6 PPG, 8.3 RPG and 1.5 BPG.

DeVries plan of attack this offseason has been clear but he’s never had a team with this much size It’ll be interesting to see how he adjusts his in-game philosophy and playing style in order to compete at a high level

@PaulFanson I do really hope we get a great year out of Jesse and I do feel people might be sleeping a bit on him a bit. If he can match Kohlers junior year in just his second year of eligibility that would be huge. But that still isn’t enough.

@PaulFanson For another “Izzo got the most of his guys and got to the second weekend” year sure but not for a “this team is a title contender” year. If Jesse and Taylor are much better than expectations and you don’t play a transfer as many minutes that’s fine but you can’t rely on it.

Unpopular take: I think there is a solid chance that MSU is just fine at the center position with Jesse McCulloch, Ethan Taylor, and Cam Ward playing a little small-ball center from time to time. Adding a center from the portal is an insurance policy.

@MSUFanJay If we had 5th yr Coop it would be a solid piece to ensure depth we need a top tier big ten big to make a deep run. Barring Jesse and Taylor being far better than expected but you can’t rely on that.

Whyyyy are we crying so muchhhhh man 7’2, just standing there arms up is a presence in its self and makes shot making tougher. Good rebounder @ 8.3 RPG and 10PPG ( probably put backs and lobs ) but he has some offensive game too. 1.5 Blocks per game ( rim protection) Were mad at the fact that he lacks defense on 1 on 1s as if we leave bigs on an island lol. Were structured around TEAM DEFENSE. PROTECT THE RIM, REBOUND, RUN. 7’2 Big men arnt guarding guards constantly anyway. OWN THE DAMN PAINT. Ofc hes not our #1, and hes raw. But If we can get him. Get him.
