Sadly, many of these #paddocktrees are nearing the term of their natural life and there is little recruitment around them to replace them. Many are also suffering from dieback disease, or high loads of parasites and predators, due to their isolation from other healthy trees. 3/4

Persicaria elatior (Tall Knotweed) may look weedy, but this lover of boggy ground is actually quite rare & listed as vulnerable. We found a good population in Toonumbar NP today, so scored a few more #seeds for #PlantBank! #conservation #SavingOurSpecies #VitalScience #botany

Today we went hunting #seeds in the #rainforest of Toonumbar NP & stumbled across these fully laden Croton acronychioides. Another key Global Trees Project target, it sure was a welcome find! #PlantBank #conservation #botany #VitalScience #science #ozplants

At first I thought it was a Christmas tree but turns out it was a Sarcopteryx stipata in #fruit, which have a cool green embryo in cross section, surrounded by an orange aril. #PlantBank #rainforests

What a beauty! Sarcochilus fitzgeraldii (Ravine #Orchid) is listed as vulnerable due to poaching & its easy to see why collectors want them! We're hoping for #seeds from this healthy wild population near Dorrigo, so fingers crossed! #PlantBank #conservation #SavingOurSpecies
